A friend of mine's parents are in a similar position. They lent their son money who was (wait for it...) a financial advisor for a business deal. Anyway it went belly up and they ended up losing all their super. It did go to court and he is supposed to pay back some tiddly amount a week which of course he doesn't and his mother in particular keeps making excuses for him. It's an awful situation as their comfortable retirement was wiped out from under them.

Correct brand of clothes washer.
Is it? It does this stupid annoying thing. It gives an alarm when the cycle is finished but you still can’t unlock the door. By the time the door lock will open (5 mins?) you’ve forgotten all about getting the washing out.

@JohnK
Can you please give a perspective on the population exchange between Greece and a turkey in 1925
It was 1923 and I believe it was to try and avoid further conflict. Greece was promised a lot to enter WWI on the side of the allies and then the powers to be reneged. I cannot believe they were worried that Greeks would revive the Byzantine Empire.

When does corporate misconduct lead to suspension of FS license?. AMP?

Why should it? They're not members of a trade union and probably donate to the Liberal party, therefore they're innocent. The explanation is that there was a rogue salesperson but that the industry is sound so there is no need for reform.

Hey it has worked before and will undoubtedly work again. There may be some high profile resignations but they'll soon get another high paying job in the industry so no problems.

Yes it does that for some dumb reason. It’s actually a minute or so. However quite reliable if 8 years is a guide

My only experience with a front washer was the recent ones in Scotland and I wasnt impressed. They were washer/dryers and took forever.

the combo washer dryers in the UK tend to neither particularly well and so damned slow

I’ve got an AEG and can open the door as soon as it beeps. The only annoying thing is that it beeps at intervals for a while if you don’t get the washing out.

Am reading an interesting book at the moment:

Wounded Eagle - The Bombing of Darwin and Australia's Air Defence Scandal

– it’s basically about Australia’s Aviation politics, policy and practices between WWI and WWII and how it fed into the RAAF’s ability to defend Darwin from the Japanese bombing.

Obviously it is only one view, but apparently it is a fairly well regarded one ?

I dare say many folk on here have already read the book ?

Enjoy if you haven’t read it yet, and think you might be interested.

Well, I do have angle grinding skills now.

They are dreadful. We bought one 10 years ago for investment apartment and when it broke down this year we bought just a washer. We currently have one in the Apt we lease in Mel. All they do is take forever to create hot wet/damp clothes.

Interesting Gold. My father was in Darwin with the RAAF when the bombing occurred so I might hunt it out.

She apologised and said she would get onto it. Early April I sent a polite email. Mid April I sent a Did you see this? Then I phoned twice and left messages. Then I sent another email. I have had no answers to my emails or phonecalls since 14 March and the refund hasn’t turned up,

IMO this a good example of the Ferrari factor ; the Sydney person has probably tried to get something done by the UK office and failed.
I agree ,Escalate..( but don't cancel.. SS are great once at sea.)
Make a formal complaint to an au regulator... AND THEN… join the Silversea list on cruise Critic and spell it all out in dispassionate detail.
Hit facebook , hit them everywhere, squeaky wheels receive grease, maybe even compensation…..

Stuffing you around costs them little.. 2 bookings is neither here nor there… hitting their public perception button will hurt and will likely get results. Tell the world .

I guess I should also say that (IMO of course) there is no value in booking direct.
The agents fees are built into the price anyway and a decent agent really has some clout .
i have been promised a refund in 7 to 14 days. I went up the line a bit, mentioned I had been getting advice from this board and I would go to Facebook and cruise critic if necessary. Not looking for any compensation - just want my money. The guy I am dealing with agreed I had waited too long and asked me to get back to him in 14 days if the money didn’t appear. Thanks for your input :)

I’ll fling you over some of our possums then.
You won't mind if I don't take you up on that offer? Daughter does have a possum out the back of her place and a friend has 'Peter' possum who seems to have taken up residence in her garage (and has been encouraged ). We did have a pigeon that flew in the winter garden doors and then settled on the back of the couch in the lounge. Mercifully it flew out again quickly.

Obviously not an LG.
Front loaders are much more gentle on clothes and highly water efficient. Electrical efficiency comes from having to agitate a much smaller mass of water. We went from top to front. Very happy
