Religion is just a structured belief package that has been a wonderful mass subjugation tool over the centuries.
Almost everyone believes in something ..most of us believe that the sun will rise tomorrow.
We don't , can't know it will , so we believe.
An "ism" is just packaged belief.

See, I don’t like the thought of people messing with my bones 20 years after I’ve died. Plastic bag? Is that legal?
But you don't mind being cremated?

I'm not sure if a plastic bag for exhumed bones is legal or not. This was in a village in Greece so who knows.

Only if you are considering just Western history and count some isms such as National Socialism, communism as religions.

Throw in all of Europe and the Middle East and I think there's a good case to be made, even excluding WW1 and 2 and Russia.

Not at all. Fire is purifying. The other is, well, burial.

We had a number of breakins in our first home. And a few attempts. We installed a burglar alarm when we built. MrP came home during a work day and could see through the house from the front door of a guy at our back sliding door about to put a hammer through the glass door. He dialed 000 but they just wouldn’t answer. In the end he just opened and slammed the front door and yelled out to him. He scampered over the back fence. There was an attempt to break into a window. The third time was after we’d sold the house a week earlier and we’d had open inspections. Clearly they’d attended. They knew exactly where to go stealing computers, kids electronic games, and my jewellery.

We have taken to chaining the gate, so no vehicle access. Not many want to walk the 200 meters up the driveway, set the house alarm off, and walk/run back another 200 meters. Plus we have a fabulous secret group on Facebook to let us all know if any strange cars are cruising around. Joys of living in a “only 1 way in/out” Valley.

But atheists have their own religion too. It’s called atheism. Any “ism” is a religion in my books.
Hitler had the Aryan religion. Almost cult like IMO
But yes agree that religion has been used by all sorts to advance their agenda.
I'm not sure I agree with the reference to religion. naz_sm and neo-naz_sm are about as far as one can get from religion.

And Fascism? Communism? We can go on and on.

We have electric gate and post and rail fencing. Only way to get in is to jump the fence. Also the fence is electrified for the horses. The horses know it but I’m sure the burglars don’t.

If the house is on fire the fire brigade can ram down the electric gate or I can open it from the other side of the world with a phone call to the embedded Aldi SIM card.

Religion is a system of beliefs and faiths. While fascism and communism do not have a superhuman diety, the structure of these systems are such that there is one person at the top with inordinate power.

Gee Citbank really try hard to stop you cancelling a card....
Two 'customer relationships officers' on the one call telling me they can offer this and that if I just keep the account open.

It's hard to be polite sometimes when people deliberately don't listen to what you're telling them.

Thanks. I was thinking Hilton as Ive got some points to burn (either in Iceland or AMS) and its near/on a canal, which would make hubby happy. Plus I will be Diamond by then so will get lounge/breakfast/possible upgrade if available.

I was looking at prices and thinking similar, book flexi so I can change later on. We arrive during their tulip season

We stayed in the Erik Vokel apartments near the Double Tree and Centraal station in April. The apartments were handy, as I needed access to a washing machine. The Doubletree was in a good location, has as exec lounge on the ground floor, and seems nice. Starbucks and an Albert Heijn supermarket nearby.

Thanks! How was being in the wharf area? I read some reviews on the nearby Doubletree and some are complaining about the location.

Mahatir has wins Malaysia election. Who woulda thought

They have a simple system of preventing multi voting - dip a finger in indelible ink.
Should happen here. No ink no sausage sandwich

The interesting thing is that comparison is often made about the differences in corruption levels etc between Malaysia and Singapore - and mostly true from what I have seen and heard. But who thinks that this type of election result, loss of power by the ruling party, would be allowed to happen in Singapore?

GarrettM I got rid of two CCs today. One was a Citi and the other was Westpac. Citi tried hard to keep me but there is too much of "no points for this and that" to bother. Westpac is out because St George Amplify is better.

Reckon you could start a thread for planning? See how many pages you can go with it.
That idea was rejected yesterday.

In my opinion any trip planning should be done in the Destination guide and not buried in TOTT so other people can make use of the information posted. But I could be wrong.

I was cancelling a Westpac card and they wouldnt over the phone so I had to go to a branch and they got their last bit of blood out of ($4.50) by way of some sort of fee.

On all my surveys since, always give Westpac low marks or responses.

Looked at one private guide inc car and it was $3.5K for one day! I get its supply and demand but nope. If they're making that much, good luck to them.
thats crazy! We always do private guides now and it doesn’t come to that sort of money! We usually do specific towns in Europe and probably 3 hour sessions, but multiplying out and adding in a car it’s nowhere near that. In Cappadocia we did a private guide with car for 3 days and it was around $800. Turkey is not really a cheap country either!

We get a lot of burglaries in our street, but so far the fur babies seem to have repelled any potential marauders.

We did have one attempt - we had had a big party for Ms FM, everyone had gone and Mr FM ran 4 girls into Civic to go clubbing. They must have been watching and decided the house was empty (in spite of every light in the place being on). I was in the kitchen cleaning up with the puppies keeping me company and heard a strange bang and decided to open the front door to investigate, saw some figures running past and a car in the middle of the street. People get into car, I run into street and try and take licence no, then decide me in the street with 4 people in car is probably not so clever, so run back into house. After Mr FM gets back he walks down to his rumpus room and we find they have tried to shatter the glass in the sliding door. Because it’s double glazed they only managed to get through the first layer, before I scared them away!
