Religion is just a structured belief package that has been a wonderful mass subjugation tool over the centuries.
Almost everyone believes in something ..most of us believe that the sun will rise tomorrow.
We don't , can't know it will , so we believe.
An "ism" is just packaged belief.

As my Dad always says “ Religion in this world, is insurance against fire in the next...”. :-)

You don’t look that suspicious to me. LOL.

I think shes thinking full price replacement. ie, bought a $1000 jacket 2yrs ago so she thinks she should get $1000 compo. Umm, no. thats not how it works.

Actually that’s exactly how “replacement “ (new for old) works

I've had my ID checked every time we've hada look at open houses in VIC
oh really! Must be more trusting here - we are just a country town. Of course it might be changing here as well, but I have not been asked yet - just to put my name in a book.

Yes but rarely does insurance cover new for old unless specifically stated. Usually its depreciated value, ie car.

Especially as she cant produce any receipts for any of her damaged items. I feel for her, shes the victim but shes not going to get $3K.

Really? I thought most items are not covered when removed from the house? Must check ours.:)
I agree household policies cover stuff in the house, unless you pay extra e.g. my jewellery is not covered as soon as I wear it out - the cost to insure it for outside the house was ridiculous, so I just cover it against a major burglary and if I lose it outside too bad.....

This is so wise. And when we put our house on the market next year we will insist on names being taken. If that puts people off then so be it, it will still sell.
Agents routinely ask for name and contact number for anyone at an open house. Easy to lie though. Never had ID checked so that’s an interesting thing.

I have always said that even if someone got into my place when no one was home, it’s another story as to whether they would get out again.

Close to 70kg of dog tends to be a bit of a deterrent.

Knock on the front door and there is a very loud, deep greeting and look in the window and you will see what is barking at you. Come via the backyard and there are enough signs there is a big dog in the house. I wish them luck...
I take it pooch is not a chihuahua then.:p

Proof of identity checks are often at the request of the seller. In Victoria (and maybe other states) sellers can specify it as a condition of entry.

I've just finished 2 days touring in 40+ degrees in India, covering abt 9 km on foot both days and lots! of steps:).

For the past couple of days, I've been asking the tour people how I'll pay them. Not the guide they say, well let you know.

Just waiting too fly out and the message, via AFFer RB ( they've been in touch) is that the guy is in Thailand, and I should give it to some other Australians ( unknown to me!) who are taking one of their tours later in the year; they'll bring the money.

That's bizarre; very trusting and that's nice, but bizarre.

Update: I'm now going to pay the driver who's taking me to the airport in a little while, but the tour guy is getting a haircut as we cancelled a top-up bank ATM stop today and I'm a bit short of what's due. He's ok with that.

Passenger’s horror as bag gets run over on tarmac

Scroll through the pics to see the damage.

I don't understand the airline's position on this.

Sure, if it was normal handling, items not supposed to be in baggage shouldn't be covered for damage.

But if you drop the bag and run over it - as is suspected here - that goes way outside the normal handling and the airline should be responsible.

Ordinarily companies can't exclude negligence when it comes to trying to evade liability.

Wouldn't you need cover for specified personal effects and then you get cover away from home?
Most household contents policies cover items temporary removed from the premises, but of course depends on the specific T&Cs.

Yes, that’s true, however in my (now) )limited experience, replacement, new for old is more prevalent.
