On my fathers side we go back to the earls of Westmoreland-first time around.Descended from the daughter of the 5th earl. The 6th earl was a catholic and was one of the leaders of the Rebellion in the North against QE 1.Didn't end well.Title and all his wordly goods confiscated. He died penniless in Spain. The earldom was reinstated in the 1600s but another family with no relationship to the previous earls.
Though I found that our surname goes back to around the time of the Norman invasion.A forebear threw in his lot with the Normans and became a Lord of the manor.
My mothers forebears came over with the Normans. Her maiden name was Best.It turns out though it is a corruption of Beast as the family were known as the "Beasts of Northumberland".

Are we due for a full moon because the commute to work was crazy today.

I try to be extra calm, I repeat "Ive only got a 4klm commute, let them in even though they are creeping up from an emergency breakdown lane, let them in even though they are trying to turn right from the far left lane, its OK the ahole in front doesnt wave in acknowledgement that I helped them out", but today just about did my head in with aholes. My dashcam would need a lot of bleeping out if I was to publish it.

OMG - this was yesterday for me. I have a 9km commute and was nearly taken out twice and had to slam on my brakes another time. Oh and got to travel at 42km in a 60km zone - just because.

The worst one was a girl in the right lane. She looked in her rear view mirror and made eye contact with me and then moved across in front of me - no indicator and not actually sufficient room between me and the truck. And for no reason - there was nothing ahead of her turning so she could have easily continued in her lane until it was actually safe to change lanes.

Full moon in Croatia was 4.15pm on Tuesday.

Must have been British!

Which is why I tick " keep my census" every time. In this digital world, including photos, I'm thinking there will be less, not more information on us available for our descendants in 100 or so years time.

My byword: "hardcopy", preferably on acid free, archive quality paper.

Some countries are now restricting access to B, D and M records of the distant past, for 'privacy'. Stupid.
I might get you to have a look at my mother’s birth certificate. I can’t for the life of me make out the place of birth.

I seem to be able to drink a lot of red wine, but my tolerance for spirits is low, which is a shame as I like whisky and brandy. I like a beer as well, but I don't like to drink it all night as I'm then up all night.
I can hear quite a few enjoying their beers right now, and it's only just gone 6pm. Almost time to go and enjoy an ice cold cerveza.

I'm the opposite. I can drink coughtails all night and feel fine. Wine or beer knock me around something shocking.

My theory is that sugar and fruit in coughtails negate the effect of the spirits.

Let’s hope that no unsuspecting poor soul decides to join AFF with the handle of Bazza!
"Bazza" is already on AFF, albeit using a different handle. You've answered my phone when he called and I've had to block him. o_O:rolleyes::oops::eek:

....and I’ve met enough Bazza’s to put me off group tours for life.

Threadbo banned tobogganing, there will be parental outrage. Thredbo bans tobogganing at its resort a week out from snow season

and *snort* It wasn’t him, but the tyranny of living away from home, that unzipped his fly.
Vikki Campion says you 'can't help who you fall in love with'. Really?

Tobogganing is actually quite dangerous if mixed with skiers because they don’t have the ability to stop or turn. ( but Some skiers/snowboarders don’t have that ability either. There really is nowhere safe in Thredbo for tobogganing.

Perisher has a dedicated tobogganing area so don’t understand why Perisher is doing it as well

 So are you hoping he sees this and gets the message that he's being inappropriate?
