Just called Qantas to get my seats allocated per Flashware’s advice in ADL and managed to get 71D, 71E on the A380. Unfortunately I couldn’t get 80A or 80K.

Well I'm back home in Brisbane after a day with a misconnect, a missed bag and a marred opportunity (apologies to thewinchester for such a short time at MEL T2 FL). Oh, and did I mention that not using Advance Seat Selection close to T-80 or OLCI close to T-24 will cost you a good seat. As a QF WP you'd think I'd realise that, but then again most of the seats I had were next to blank ones, so it wasn't all that bad.
No need to apologise at all for the short time in the MEL T2 FL, misconnects always blow.

For what time we were there, it was worth it and I'm now officially spoilt. :D

Might have to find the coin for some status runs after the SE Asia trip at the end of the year to bump up a few levels before my qualifying year ends.

Went and got mcdonalds (i wanted sushi but someone else disagreed) in Rosny Park today and noticed that if you put less than $35 through EFTPOS you don't have to enter your pin or sign a reciept.

I'm all for convinience but this is just getting lazy now, so effectively i could be anyone with any card and walk in no questions asked.

This system has been in for quite a while now. Just swipe, insert and that's that.

You could be anyone and use a card as such, although it is fairly easy to get away with credit card fraud in the old way as well (after all, you are never forced to use a pin - you can sign). Notwithstanding that signature forgery is getting easier these days, it has been shown that many times rather than not the signature is not verified at the point of sale.

Fair enough. It was the first time i had seen it before.

Mind you i did look like a bit of a cough because i thought the machine saying "insert card" meant it had not read it properly, i didnt realise that i had to swipe then use the chip, duh!

"Watching" Stosur vs S Williams live at the French Open website (i.e. watching point by point score updates). Stosur served for the match at 5-3 in the 2nd but Williams broke back. Nerve-wracking stuff!

Dad's leaving for his trip via QF19 BNE-MNL today (well, it is past midnight here...)

We did OLCI tonight and the only seat he could get was 57E, his preallocated seat. I can't believe that the entire plane is unavailable for him! (Except for the pay-for-exit rows) OK, I completely forgot about Advance Seat Selection and he is a QF NB with nothing on the board, but still....

Here's hoping he can negotiate a better seat at check-in. :(

Must be tired if you watched to the end.But Sammy wins.:D

16 days till I fly out to Japan - I want to be more excited but the yen seems to be in manic-depressive mode (yet another PM in their wishy-washy private boys school of a government has resigned so maybe it'll stabilise), teachers strikes on today which has meant that I'm now a day behind in exams and I still haven't packed yet!

What kind of cheery life-affirming drivel can I think about to make it through the day today?

Oh, and can anyone tell me if it's illegal for me to buy a few cartons of cigs at ¥300 a pack and onsell them to my chimney friends here at $10 a pack? $5 less than the current market rate...

The aud is actually about 4 yen stronger today than it was last week when I was over there.

As for the cigs I can't see why not. Of course if the tax man asks maybe don't tell them that they paid you for the smokes but rather paid younfor something else. I also purchase my first smokes last week for a friend duty free in australia. Wish I had of realised that they were cheaper in japan. :(

Firstly, Duty free rights are for items obtained for personal (non commercial) purposes.

To onsell for $$ would directly contravene the regulation.

You are also limited to 250 cigarettes and a "used open pack" in total. Exceed this and you are liable for full excise and GST on the whole lot. (36¢ per stick + 10% of the purchase price)

Only 2 days until I fly off to the USA, I feel a little bit unorganized.

Good to see the Dollar has improved.

Found that my carry on size bag expanded just fits into a Qantas 737-800 overhead bin. Lucky they didn't weigh it as it was 13.8kgs.

The USA ESTA website isn't the most user friendly; it doesn't allow you to print out your document once you have made the changes and does it ever send anyone an email to advise you of your number.

Another plug for the Adelaide Hilton; I had a nice stay.

You don't know what you are missing when you don't have status, I just wish QF19 operated a few more days a week from Sydney. Not so bad if you are coming to Brisbane for a long weekend.

I did notice that in the first few rows of economy then Qantas do block the centre seat and will fill the back of the plane up before they open up the B and E seats.

Great for my flight up to Brisbane, (6C) but I couldn't get any further forward than row 15 to Melbourne on the Monday morning from Adelaide.

I probably got more enjoyment from attending Ozfest for the 4 nights, but I think I got a better minute per minute enjoyment from Cairns as I was only there for 21 hours, maybe the weather in Cairns was better, and that is one reason I am suggesting Darwin for Ozfest 2011.

Fair enough, but it still surprises me that there was not one single seat left to select last night except the seat that Dad had got. Not so much as another freak middle seat in another row, or another back row seat. Absolutely not another seat.

I've had that happen to me before, even as a QP PS.

I find that odd, as you’ve just achieved SG and I’m still NB, yet I managed 14C and 5F, both forward of you. And both my flights had blocked seats next to me, even as far back as row 14, though other seats around me weren’t blocked… the guy I was across from must have been a CL is all I can think of.

Though I guess Monday morning flights would tend to be busier.

Could you please tell Qantas to block the middle seats on my flights.

For me I think it is time to give Ozfest a break if it moves to Darwin and/or Perth.

It’s good to visit new places… spending another year in Sydney, or somewhere they’ve been before seems silly when their are heaps of other possibilities. Even places like Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Byron Bay, would be fun, but sometimes you need to go further afield to find a new experience :p
