If it's the motherboard that is gone, then probably worth changing - sometimes its not easy to just change the faulty part in a laptop.
The guy at the PC repair shop said it is more than likely the motherboard but I would also need a new power cable/AC adapter. Who knows what else has had it. He said it may cost $500-$600 to fix.

I purchased a new Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 15 with half-decent specifications (4GB memory, 500GB hard disk, intel i3-370m processor, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit etc) for $799. I should have also received a 15% discount for eCoupon WEEKENDSALEEVENT but this was not working on the weekend when I placed order. I have informed Lenovo of bug and their web team is looking at the "potential bug" and will get back to me.

In reality I have paid ~$680 for a brand new laptop with 1 year warranty. If it last 2 years then it is a bonus. I just cannot justify spending $1500+ on a laptop I will want to replace in ~2 years anyway.

It probably didn't help that the connection time at SIN was a mere 1 hour. Yes I know SIN are usually efficient (both luggage side and passenger side), but on paper that's still a tight connection. Let me guess, however: the QF search engine spat this connection out as an option, didn't it:?:

In any case, FlightStats shows that QF10 arrived in SIN on time after leaving LHR approximately 25 minutes late. So given that the connection was not really compromised, the only reason I can give for the baggage not making it is a lapse in the usual Changi efficiency.

It sure would have! It's the same connection I took on my way home last year, and was going to use when I pop back for a wedding but have instead decided for 12 hours in SIN so I can do a little shopping and enjoy some Chili Crab :p

I hope you used Moneybackco to get 7% back or the Velocity shop and earn ;)

Or DSE.

Currently sat in The Lounge BNE. Tried to park at the long term park but it was completely full with staff directing pax to short term and assuring I'll get charged the long term rate. Car is now in the sun but much closer to where I'll be arriving.

Haven't been in the DJ terminal area for a looooong time. Interesting place. Straight into the lounge but no such luck so far getting closer to the front (I'm in 5C - guess where I want to be).

The aircon in here isn't great but it's cooling me slowly. As is the beer.

Sam,

I think you may be missing some tags:rolleyes:

Enjoy the trip.

Sam, you probably cant do it from iphone app, but you probably want to remove surname and/or FF numbers from those photos (velocity and marcopolo are quite prominent).

I did not know about Moneybackco but it would appear that a similar laptop to the one I purchased is listed at $849 and with 7% off it would be ~$790. I paid $799 and I was able to choose the configuration of the machine I wanted.

I had no idea Velocity had a partnership with Lenovo but I am imagining they would not be able to match the price I paid for the same laptop.

Still hoping to get 15% off the $799 I paid but the fine print may put a stop to that although I believe the ACCC could be interested in potential false advertising.

John

MBC and virgin take you to the Lenovo store and you get the cash back after applying any coupons.

Too late now.

It's not, unless it's shipped you can cancel and redo as a new order with no penalty, the current 20% off plus 7% will make it worth looking at, I order twenty or so a year with them and have a good customer service contact if needed.

I cannot cancel as the order is being assembled in China as we speak. I am not unhappy with the price I paid and the same machine is now advertised $100 more than I paid on the weekend.

Where are you getting the 20% off?

John,

I am telling you that it's possible to cancel anytime until it's with DHL. The 20% off is currently at their online shop, use the money back co link, or the virgin link.

I don't really want to cancel as that would put my order back further. Also I do not believe I can cancel based on the terms and conditions.

Lenovo said:
4. Cancellation and Variation Policy

You cannot cancel or vary an order once it has been placed with Lenovo.

For orders that use direct debit /payment by wire as their payment method, if payment is not received and cleared, immediately available funds within 5 business days of the day the order is placed, Lenovo reserves the right to cancel the order.

If Flexirent rejects your lease application the order will be cancelled.

Upon any order cancellation a cancellation email will be sent to you.

For more information about cancelled orders please call 1300 557 073.

Also I cannot find the 20% off on MoneyBackCo or Velocity.

On MoneyBackCo I can only see a link for 7% off but the list price of the laptop is $849 and when I click on the link the website is not displayed at work and I do not have access to the internet at home. I cannot even tell if it is the same specification as the laptop I purchased.

On Velocity shop and earn there were only a couple of Lenovo's and I could not see a link to Lenovo that would offer 20% off.

I just noticed a sequence in my post count that does not happen very often.

markis10,

I may sound stupid, but how do you get a screen shot like that and add it to a post?

Thanks.

Press Print Screen on your keyboard (if using Windows), then Start > Run > mspaint, Edit > Paste.

Crop the area you want, Edit > Copy, then File > New, Edit > Paste, File > Save

Voila! :p

If using Vista or Windows 7 click on Start and type in "Snipping Tool".

I’m actually not phased, I noticed that my numbers were clearly visible but a membership number and/or last name will only get you so far :p

Appreciate why you removed them though.

Press Print Screen on your keyboard (if using Windows)

On a mac use the key combination Command + Shift + 3 to take a photo of the while screen, or Command + Shift + 4 if you want to select an area (and you can click spacebar to selectively choose different windows.

Edit: Forgot to add, I’m not in The Lounge MEL. We left the gate late but on arriving the crew said we’d arrived 50 minutes ahead of time, with the quip "red planes really do go faster". Still, that’s a lot of made up time! Luckily there’s a flight to DRW tonight at 0145 so I could stay here all night, but my dad was scheduled at 2230 or so on CX163 so I shall make my way over when he lands. Absolutely dead in here. I want someone to play pool with :(
