I’m up to Carlton Dry, which I find to be an interesting taste. Beforehand I had an Asahi, Strongbow and a Crown. When I am done with the full strength beers I’ll start trying the reds.

Still no one here to play pool with me :(

And with all that beer I guess soon you will be asleep;)

I slept on the plane, currently sat in the middle of MEL "The Lounge" on a computer table I presume considering all the power points.

I can see the wine beckoning me now. I have about an hour till my dads flight is estimated to land.

Press Print Screen on your keyboard (if using Windows), then Start > Run > mspaint, Edit > Paste.

Crop the area you want, Edit > Copy, then File > New, Edit > Paste, File > Save

You do the hokey pokey, and you turn yourself around......

We left the gate late but on arriving the crew said we’d arrived 50 minutes ahead of time, with the quip "red planes really do go faster".

And I'd say that crew is on drugs. That's the polite, non-physical version of the statement. I'd like to think that the crew of an airline that I'd want to fly would respect the intelligence of its passengers rather better than that. Really - that's just insulting.

50 minutes early?! How the hell does that happen, especially if you left late. And that's an honest question.

Edit: Forgot to add, I’m not in The Lounge MEL. We left the gate late but on arriving the crew said we’d arrived 50 minutes ahead of time, with the quip "red planes really do go faster". Still, that’s a lot of made up time! Luckily there’s a flight to DRW tonight at 0145 so I could stay here all night, but my dad was scheduled at 2230 or so on CX163 so I shall make my way over when he lands. Absolutely dead in here. I want someone to play pool with :(

I haven't been following your travels that closely but from where to where was this flight?

BNE to MEL, and I am betting the crew were BNE based, and as a result had watches that were an hour behind.

So the plane actually arrived in MEL 10 mins late but because the F/A's still had their watches on BNE time it looked like 50 mins early. I think the reason why crews leave their watches on the time of their home port is that their signon & hotel pickup times are based on their home base time zone, not the local time of the port they are visiting.

Enter Space Cadet Barbie.

Or did the FA get hypoxic after sunbaking on the engine at 30,000 ft for too long?

A check of the DJ flights from BNE-MEL yesterday on both DJ's website and FlightStats seems to show that:
  • Only two flights were "late" (i.e. arrival > 15 minutes past schedule)
  • The remainder of the flights were on time (and frequently early, averaging around 10 minutes early)

From deduction, since samh004 took his flight in the afternoon, the two late flights were in the morning, so samh004 probably did arrive early in MEL, but not 50 minutes early. There was certainly nothing there to suggest that a flight arrived even close to 50 minutes early! And if it's just a "fail to wind the watch" thing then someone (or rather, the crew) is pretty lousy at basic maths.

I suggest that there was a mishearing, and the they flight arrived 15 minutes early.

The crew did make several mistakes reading things out, but I didn't mishear, perhaps they misspoke. I didn't bother to check.

Was a good flight. No free drinks or onboard upgrades though.

John, now I am home on a real computer and not the iPAD I can see its a 15% discount via the velocity link:
The price I paid for a similar specification (I have the i3-370M processor not the i3-380M processor on the Velocity link) laptop is $799 where as your Velocity link yields a price of $772.05. In theory Lenovo owes me a 15% discount on the $799 I paid on the weekend which brings the price down $679.15.

That is currentyl being disputed with Lenovo as I believe they are in the wrong to refuse me the discount. I have an email from Lenovo offering an unconditional 15% off ThinkPad Edge 15 and the link also offers 15% off as well but the fine print mentions that ThinkPad Edge 14 and Edge 15 are excluded from discount. I believe that is false advertising and if Lenovo do not honour the 15% discount then the ACCC may be interested.

I may sound stupid, but how do you get a screen shot like that and add it to a post?
I have been trying for ages without success.

Sounds like my driving in golf. My driver randomly assigns a spot for the golf ball in and behind tress each time. ;)

Am at the QP in Sydney. Q-reader is fantastic. The lounge dragon didn't like my baggage receipt which says QANTAS CLUB SILVER. I had to show her my QP card and she had to swipe it. Anyone else had that?

Am drinking a blonde but thinking about going downstairs to fetch a burger. Just updating my i-tunes software.

Just heard on the news that there has been a methane gas explosion in a NZ coal mine,29 people, including apparently 2 Australians are trapped underground in the mine near Greymouth.
Just awful, lets hope they can get them out quickly.

Second explosion at 2.37 pm today. No longer believed to be any survivors.
