No chance, the pigs last hurrah is two days away. Then again........

It's hard (for me) to think of anything that would warrant being a mystery grand finale for new years eve fireworks besides a final farewell. Also gets one up of queensland?

I'm an Aunty!!!!

His name is Thomas Nathan which I guess might make me an Uncle......

As soon as I was told I was rudely told NOT to facebook it as his English grandparents don't know yet so I am retaliating but pronouncing his name as Fomas Naffan (loving that TH).

Drinks are on me, Mum (Grandma) and I are on our third bottle of wine.

You could always go to the nearest Maccas drive fru & get a chocolate fickshake. ;)

Congratulations Karens:)
I hope mother and baby are doing well.
You've got lots to look forward to,including all those extra rewards points on your credit card for all the presents you'll have to buy, birthdays, christmas etc.

At the risk of being on topic, thanks to JohnK and LW for their wishes (in another thread but not wanting to drag that one off topic as this one is already, off topic!)

Sitting in BNE Lounge with flight arrivals and departures in chaos. Is there a pattern developing here? ;)

[soap box]

I was on QF557 due to depart at 19:15 with seat 4D and got here early enough and was offered earlier flight QF555 which is due to depart at 19:25. I did not take the offer. Got to check-in and was told I "have" to move to earlier flight QF555 as QF557 is likely not to make it by curfew. Why not QF553 which is the only one on time and due to depart 18:15? Flight is full I was told.

It would appear that QF553 is a 738, QF555 and QF557 are 734's and all of them are not full although QF were refusing to move me to QF553. Now they have not done me any favours moving me to QF555 and I know what is going to happen later in the evening. They will not be able to move all passengers and QF557 is still going to take off with only a few passengers and I will be stuck on a full flight.

[/end soap box]

Glad I do not have any serious problems to worry about. ;) :p

Thank you!

I'm looking forward to buying loud toys for my nephew. I am going to knit him a blanket out of my late Grandmother's yarn. I found twenty balls of a soft feeling light blue yarn.

My Mum is meeting him on Saturday while Dad stays home with the dogs. His other Grandparents live in Manchester and we think they can't afford the flight. My parents are ready to offer to pay the plane ticket but we're not sure if they would think that rude.

That's a great idea! Tell them they can book it with points and then there will be no embarrassment involved. It's only a little white lie ;)

QF557 is now due to board at 19:20 and the earlier flight I was forced to move to is now due to board at 19:55.

I must just be a sucker....

CBR AP was closed about 1930 hours this evening due to lightning strikes, not sure how long it lasted or even if it is still closed.

When I landed (from BNE) about 1830 we had to wait about 10 minutes before we could get a gate and then go to the air bridge.

Good luck if you're trying to travel here tonight the rain is in and lots of minor floods around the area.

Meanwhile over in the UK we've had a lot of airports closed due to the heavy, earlier than expected snow around the country...

QF555 has finally started boarding ~28 minutes after my original flight QF557 boarded.

I still cannot understand why I was forced to move from QF557 to an earlier flight and I will be providing another harshly worded feedback email to QF....

I endeavor never to move from my originally booked flight.

It's easy to avoid this sort of stuff domestically - avoid human contact.

Step 1: Book, preselect seat if you have status
Step 2: Recheck seating at T-80
Step 3: OLCI at T-24; print A4 BP
Step 4: Use your 2 x 7Kg carry on allowance
Step 5: Arrive Airport
Step 6: Go though security
Step 7: If you have lounge access, use it
Step 8: Be at Gate 5 minutes before bording is to start
Step 9: When boarding commences, board your originally booked aircraft (ASAP).
