About a week ago, I overheard a young British backpacker lass commenting to someone else "I'm heading up to Cairns for a couple of weeks. Looking forward to a great time!".

From what I've seen weather wise, it's rained pretty much every day since then, now she will have to evac due to cyclone... At least she has an interesting story to tell!

I noticed today in DRW that the signage on the monitor above the premium checkin lines says "Business Class, Platinum & Gold Frequent Flyers" meaning PS & QP have to use the pleb lane unless they've done OLCI or Mobile check and can use the dedicated lane for that.

I'm guessing that other ports will be the same except PER & SYD who've already gone live next NGCI. DRW don't cutover to Next Gen until mid-May.

Woooo!! Cyclone. School was closed at the end of today. We are off until Friday. If the damage is not too bad, we will be back on Thursday day time. I don't think that will happen though.

I had a phone call from the relocations group this morning - only 1/3 of my belongings were undamaged at their storage yard. Everything else is flood affected. My car arrived today though - the day before the massive cyclone. I can't win!

The joke in the office today was "Well, at least Whereishome doesn't have to worry about cyclone damage - all his stuff was destroyed in the floods." I laughed, then stabbed them all in the face. Hilarious.

Funny at MEL yesterday-the security line has the same criteria prominently displayed now as well-over 30 in that line.I went through the plebs line as only 3 at each X-ray machine.No wonder we designate QF plat as WP.

I noticed on Sunday the priority security line was the one closest to the JQ hordes arriving after checking in, and they just went under the barrier! The other lines were empty .

Yep, the Qantas priority security queue in MEL on Sunday was a joke. When I first went through it, there was a Qantas staffer keeping an eye on things. Line was 2 deep.

When I looked later, there was 20+ people in the line, and the general security line was empty. No staffer around.

The issue: The general security line was a snaked line, the priority line was a straight line. Guess what people chose!

Sounds like this morning. Girl at the premium queue saying 'Business/Platinum/Gold members' and people walking past without her asking for any credentials. I assume they're just taking it that people who don't know what it is won't use it (when she said it).

Not much of a queue in any event. 2 minutes and finally missed the damn explosives test!

The only way to fly on a 737 (if you're not in J or row 00).

Easy way to miss test is to stuff around putting your gear away and wait for a bunny to go first. I did feel a bit bad when I did this to mum.

I'm glad E/F seat maps are working for you. What I'm getting back is completely different to what QF is showing. For example blocked middle seats in E/F are open for me when checking in. Not a big deal as I have 4C. But a bit annoying as I can't tell if my shadow will be travelling with me.

Might put something in the E/F thread when I get a chance.
