I vaguely remember reading somewhere (many years ago) that one of the Australian states (not NSW) had pro-rata long service payments available after 5 years employment if leaving the job. Do I remember wrong or has this changed in recent years?

Either way I am guessing it is not Queensland.

I'm pretty sure it's a Territory thing, as in NT & ACT as I believe an NT Public Servant took this issue to court & won.

Queensland found handling wages and conditions to hard for its public servants so its handed over the rules to the feds!

Oh well.... I was sort of hoping there was something to look forward to but alas I am dreaming....

I am in Brisbane this weekend and will hire a car both days. I am heading off to Geebung-Zillmere RSL tonight and more than likely Logan Services Club tomorrow night. I hope Logan is not like Blacktown or Mt Druitt in Sydney.

Don't be shy if anyone wants to catch up for a drink....

Jetstar friday fare frenzy

PER-BNE $129

A-League grand final is on March 12. I think it's fairly likely that it will be in Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Someone talk me out of it before I do it !

Ahh, JohnK don't go putting any money on it!

I caved, looks like I'm losing my BNE virginity...

Also, isn't it nice when you have slightly ignorant people who place your QFF number in bookings when making reservations for a trip they haven't told you about?

Surprise foiled:p

Although, I guess it's the proper thing to act surprised anyway ;)

Lastly this might help some people who have had issues with QFF# and JQ bookings: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ble-fix-jetstar-com-qff-28057.html#post402231

LOL. Can't say I have had the pleasure:shock:

Well it seems that some people are over-valuing the QF NGCI bag tags. Spotted this auction whilst looking for QF collectables.

They want how much for the QF hockey pucks? AUD50!

If I can spot QF on one mistake, it's that they did not personalise the NGCI tags so that they only pertain to the person who deserves those tags.

Of course, had they been personalised there might've been more incentive to steal them (these are the type of thefts that are intended simply to p*ss people off, just like chopping down mailboxes or bashing windshields).

Then again, we could've just copied the NZ team and all done paper tags. Unfortunately, unlike the Kiwis, attaching paper tags manually seems to be beyond some of the more uppity Australians (some people on this forum included!).

I'm more interested in knowing how they managed to get their hands on a bronze tag :?:

Unless they are a QF insider or they issuing tags to QPNB I don't see how :-|

That sounds about right. Either NSW or SA does this for the public service. Not sure about private industry.

I have it on good authority that QF Staff were issued 1x Bronze NGCI bag tag at christmas as part of the 90th birthday celebrations.

I am glad I hired a car and went to Geebung RSL for the evening. Did not have a drink, listened to some very nice country music and played the pokie machines and for a change I came out $2 ahead. Usually for me going home with any money is a win. ;)

The RSL is not too far from the train station so could possibly do this again in the future but I am not too sure on the train timetable and how late the trains run or whether they are safe. It looks and feels like the people are a little more civilised on the Northside.

I noticed a sign in Aspley for Patton's Big Gun and I had no idea what they were until I googled them a minute ago. Kiwi Fruit $0.05 each and green beans $0.69kg.

That's a lot cheaper than the 50 cents each I paid for kiwi fruit in Wodonga yesterday, but I can't resist them at this time of year, love them chopped in slices and stirred through my morning cereal, add a spoonful of yoghurt and you have a great, healthy breakfast.
Cheers

Geebung RSL is an ok place, although I do prefer Kedron-Wavell.

The trains from Geebung run pretty late into the night (every half hour up to 12amish ) - Check Translink. It isn't the safest train line in the network (based around coming from Caboolture or perhaps Sandgate and going to Ipswich/Rosewood), but apart from the usual type of shifty characters that are always on late night public transport I wouldn't be concerned. If really worried, choose a train that has the security guards (a Night Watch train) and time your departure from RSL to have minimal waiting time.
