Typically it's $5-10. Not big bucks by any means, but something to make it a little interesting!

I'll plan it with enough notice for the out-of-towners to come along as well (and I need to procure a new poker table; the old one was coughpy and I threw it out in the move).

Short tram and walk away. Tram up Clarendon and either walk 1.5km from Southern Cross, or change to another tram on the same stop and then a 500m walk. It's about a 30 minute walk from South Wharf to my place.

That's it. If there's no cash/prize/reward, it gets a bit silly (I work for a company that offers free poker to the masses, and the lure of a trophy at the end of it alone helps ).

And if people are flying in for it, they can afford $5-10 (perhaps a few times, you usually play 2-3 games).

I work for a company that does casino nights, but our main line is like APL: Pub Poker

Difference between us and APL is that our events are all dealt and run. Punters just play rather than having to wait until the final table like APL. Our grand finals are pretty awesome actually. typically 12 or so tables of 11 players every 3 months.

I'd be playing myself if I didn't work for them. Great first prize (for poker nuts such as me).

I've been known to do corporate gigs for Blackjack too (own an ex-crown blackjack table at home that I picked up for a bargain; just don't have the legs for the table so have to have something made up for it as the new apartment doesn't have a kitchen counter I can use for it like the old place did).

It's a fun line of work, but doesn't pay much unfortunately (but being paid to have drinks on the job is a perk)!

So whilst i'm happy to help people i'm not dealing the entire night. I do like to play a bit as well Blackjack obviously being the exception. I used to play a lot when I lived in Sydney, and took to it so much I bought the table

Why be nice? Well it pays off. The Borders/Angus and Robertson administration affected me since I was given a voucher for Xmas.

Having been overseas for 30+ days I didn't get the chance to use it. Now there are problems as I am sure you're aware.

Well I went to my local A&R store with said voucher this afternoon and they explained the conditions politely and succinctly, i.e. spend double the voucher amount.

I politely expressed my disappointment and chose some books to the value of $115 and tendered a $50 voucher and credit card. The sales lady quietly said to me that since I was so nice she would discount one of my books so that the total was $100.

Even while she was doing this there were customers screaming abuse. I really feel for the staff there at the moment. They will soon lose thier job and have to continue working with no guarantee they will get paid every fortnight or their outstanding entitlements.

I do feel for the staff and am glad it's not me.

I don't think there is an answer to my new colour question.

I do think a new colour would be very easy to describe by reference to other colours. i.e. it's like red with a faint aqua tint, etc.

That is assuming that we know everything we think know about anything. Perhaps the new colour does not resemble any existing colour. Like as close as blue and pink.

Human evolution is quite strange. We laugh at the thought of the existence of a God (think creator) yet our actions and thoughts suggest we have taken over, if not surpassed, the role of a creator. Human arrogance in it's greatest form.

By the way this is not meant to be a religious statement.

Anyway I will go back to working on my theory of whether time travel is possible. Part of me says no but another part believes it may be possible to explain alternate realities.

I guess the problem is that most people don't understand what a voucher is - it is basically a financial instrument. The administrators could have made people line up in the creditor line (if it came to that). Of course, being given the double or nothing ultimatum if you want to use it, can make you an upset customer, err, creditor.

Not sure of their logic of making you pay double, but it was probably better than telling you that you can't use them at all at the moment.

If I had such a gift voucher, I'd be in there trying to use it.
