Well obviously some problems with the disruption.Inbound plane landed~1415 but we did not take off until just after 1530.Arrived at the JQ desks~1700.Funny to see the JQ area with only 2 other pax.Agents were nice but no planes to MCY or BNE for the night-offered to change ticket to next day.
So toddled off to the QF service desk with a woman who had missed her JQ connection who was quite upset as she was going to a family funeral.I let her go first which probably was a stroke of genius as agent listened to her story and said he would help.I was at the next agent and said I had the same problem. The first agent then took over, converted our JQ bookings to a QF booking and got us both onthe 1900 BNE flight. We were put on the same PNR so she became my guest at the QP.
Karma meant that when I checked at the QP desk the flight was eligible for Aadvantage earning.:D

Not a good day for those heading to MCY yesterday, DJs SYD-MCY diverted into BNE then went US, with passengers having to bus it up the Bruce around 4PM.

Very nice turn of events!

Just finished bottling my first batch of home brew beer from the Coopers kit I got as a Christmas present,I think it will be good,I got 30 large bottles out of it and it looks pretty good, nice and clear and I tasted a little of it and even without a few weeks bottle age it's pretty nice,I can't wait to taste it properly but it needs time to settle down and let the secondary fermentation do it's bit.
Next project is ginger beer,I've got a good recipe to try.
Cheers :!:

I despise uncertain drivers.

Stop, start, do I turn here, where do I drop off? Stay off the road if you don't know what you are doing....

Annoying I know, but sometimes drivers are looking for something, or reading parking signs, or resolving the difference between what their GPS says, and what the roads actually do, or whatever.

Unfortunately driving on the road is not the right time to do any of these things.

By all means pull over and think about what you need to do but don't switch back and forth between lanes, veer left as if about to park/stop and then come back out again. I am not a psychic who is able to work out your next move....

None of us are, although accusations and who was responsible and what not mean very little when you're dead.

Hence my dad always said, "When you're driving, you can be right and them wrong, but you can also be dead right!"

Very true.

Unfortunately we have become a very lenient society to people driving cars on the roads. We should remember that any individual is simply not entitled to drive a car but needs to earn a right to drive a car. You cannot have a license to drive and be that indecisive on the road.

We can argue about it until the cows home and it isn't going to solve anything. Thankfully I do not have to drive for another week....

I wish we took a similar approach for people wanting to fly.

I was mentioning to people before that in my industry - mining - even visitors need to undertake relatively stringent induction processes to understand (read: coerce) all of their OHS rights and responsibilities. Sometimes they need to take a test for competence with respect to these. The processes could take a few minutes or a few days. And repeat visits do not necessarily result in not having to go through the process again, let alone a shorter version.

Why can't we take the same approach with people flying so we don't end up with so many airheads (no pun intended) that have little regard for the health and safety procedures within an aircraft?

Sounds like a good idea. Too hard to implement? Who is going to fund it?

I recently had a great chat with Greg Khan BM of QF1737. Really interesting guy and he was quite happy talking about the flight.

Around the world in ....... days?

Perhaps this should be in a thread on its own, but....

...putting aside time, money and possibly relations' difficulties, does anyone wish they could fly around the world (i.e. a RTW but not necessarily via a gazetted special fare of the same name) in less than a week?

Yes, this should only be answered by FF geeks. Anyone but would immediately baulk at the shortness of the said trip...

Perhaps my thoughts were inspired by this fairly recent TR on FlyerTalk:

One sexy itinerary: Round the world in 89 hours: The long awaited TR - FlyerTalk Forums

I also remember someone on this forum asking whether it was possible to fly around the world (an xONEx) within a weekend (i.e. knock off work on Friday, arrive back in time for start of work on Monday. It was "possible", as I showed with an itinerary...)

I consider myself a FF geek and the answer is NO! Now if someone else was paying for the flights and all the expenses then the answer is....

I love flying but the answer is no,travelling is only pleasant when you have time to recover from one journey and prepare yourself for the next, but the trip report on FT is great with some really good photos, but no not for me.
Cheers

BTW sounds like he had a good experience with BA-shame they are even more inconsistent service wise than even QF.
