Snapshot MKY lounge at 3.30PM, not a spare seat with 10 people standing, glad QF stopped anytime access to prevent overcrowding :lol:.

That's a tiny lounge. It's about as big as most of the offices in our building, with a tiny kitchen attached to it.

I was there a couple of years ago on a milk run. Small lounge with hardly any sitting room either, so I ducked in and grabbed some shortbread, Tim Tams and a bottle of water.

I just counted the seats, it sits 30 in seats (not sitting on the food serving area like they are at present), and at least they added a loo in the last three years. I note the spirits are gone (used to be self serve) in the last few years, cannot imagine what it looks like on Fridays, and BTW Dayglo Orange is the new black :mrgreen:.

Snapshot = A glimpse of something; a portrayal of something at a moment in time.
Thanks for the definition.

You mentioned snapshot and your post did not contain any snapshots of anything other than what your mind was thinking at that moment in time.

It did "MKY lounge at 3.30PM, not a spare seat with 10 people standing". I am not sure if people would have appreciated me taking a picture of them sitting on the food area .

Snapshot at 5Pm, plenty of seats, and a QF staffer wondering why we were here, thinking we were late for the TSV flight, nope, just waiting for the very late ROK service.

Am I just over-reacting, or is the tv news media getting increasingly more sensational?

I've watched a lot of flood, cyclone and now earthquake coverage recently, and I'm noticing that there seems to be a lot more emotional shots being shown (compared to several years ago). Eg, the atypical sob story now includes at least 3-4 seconds at the end of them crying/choking/getting teary (and not saying anything), whereas before the news would normally cut it off before then.

And of course you see the same shots of the victims around 20-30 times per day due to the almost universal coverage of events that media now gives (they have to keep repeating the same footage as they can't recreate the event to get new footage!). How do some of these victims feel?

So am I imagining this, ie the media is the same, or are others noticing this too? How does the current coverage of the CHC quake compare to say the 1989 NTL quake? Cyclone Yasi (2011) vs Cyclone Larry (2006)? Brisbane Flood (2011) vs Brisbane Flood (1974)?

Definitely agree with you Mal.And why oh why does an australian TV show have to send their reporters to CHC-surely that is just adding to the people who need to be fed and housed.Couldn't a Kiwi reporter do the job?
Though I did like one of the interviews of an aussie tourist whose drawl sounded like he came from west of Quilpie. When asked what he had experienced he said i had just finished me lunch when everything shook and we all went outside and you know what-i didn't have to pay for lunch.

I think you may be right Mal.

I watched the Brisbane flood coverage for ~2 days and by the end of the second day I had just about had enough. The same stories repeated over and over.

Reminds me of when 9-11 happened *puts on flameproof suit* I did at least have a very cruisy morning at school the next day though due to most people sitting around watching the TV for "any more news" :!:

ISTR posts here indicating that since most of these QLD QantasLink lounges were 'associated' lounges then "Any Time Access" had not applied to them in any case.

Yep. Recall this too. There have been several posts where entry to Plats was denied due to no onward QF flight - or even (IIRC) turning up to the lounge too early.

Well at DPO lounge only open 1 hour before QF flight. And only Tasair sharing the airport so definitely was no anytime access-except for me accompanying mrsdrron into the lounge when she was flying back home.

Is ROK an Associated lounge? I have had anytime access and will try again in MKY next week.

Well I lasted about 45 minutes of Koshie this morning. I almost shouted at the clown and the stupid things he was saying. Only stopped as I was in a hotel and didn't want to disturb the neighbours.

Overall it is absolutely disgusting. Flying people in the disaster zones and even into the path of the biggest cyclone in living memory.

I was wondering who might pick that up, there was a time when anytime access applied and it had the best WIFI in town at MKY, I noted that even guests were not permitted now so times sure have changed. I think around 20 people came in and left once they saw the crowds.

David Koch has made another Twitter fumble, his second in just as many weeks. Working in Christchurch yesterday he tweeted, “Up since 3.20am yesterday… time to sleep like the dead”.
A Channel Seven spokeswoman, “Kochie is sincerely sorry and deleted the message as soon as he realised what he had said,” she said.
“He had been working for more than 36 hours straight and made a mistake. He is deeply sorry for any offence he may have caused.”
The tweet was removed.

Kochie a twit with tweets :TV Tonight

I am not keen on the war coverage supplied these days either & I don't see a lot of advantage seeing various leaders flying to meet the troops & being shown in staged situations. Not a lot gained by reporters being on the ground in the middle of Egyptian riots either.
