Water bottles were removed earlier this year. Not sure why (perhaps too many take-aways?) Assume you now need to ask.

Oy vey how ridiculous. Even the San Pelligrino is gone? Geez.....

If the at least provide a clean water tap or a jug of water, I suppose you could drink a bottle (e.g. of orange juice) and fill that bottle up. A lame solution, though.

Even if they just put back those small bottles they give out on Australia domestic...... geez.....

I wonder if they removed the water bottles from the International J Lounge fridges as well.....

An interesting and confusing decision to remove the water bottles.

Things like this make me chuckle:

I was looking over the Virgin Blue Group prospectus document for a Business Studies assignment (Dated November 2003 mind you). one of the sections that I have to outline is the risk factors in purchasing Virgin Blue shares, I was typing away noting down all the risks when I come to this...

The proposed Qantas – Air New Zealand alliance could affect Virgin Blue’s growth prospects

Hmmmmmm, I really don't know what to type now :-|

Does anyone know which freq flyer program gives you points for a stay at the Mantra on Murray in Perth?

The QP in Cairns can cook hot food, they served ONE tray of chips pretending to be wedges without the skin and some spring rolls, I am shocked ! Normal programing has resumed post 5PM, they are setting up for Breakie .

I saw one AFF'er today, and a FT'er as well. (The FT'er could belong to AFF as well ... but not sure).

The AFF'er was busy on his computer and Ipad etc, and I wasn't overly social after my ex-LAX flight so didn't say hi (Brisbane QP around 11:30am this morning). Will mention it to them when I see them next.

The FT'er had the FT tag on their bag and shared my flight up from SYD. They were in Business (I was stuck in steerage). I thought I may have met them before, but the face didn't fully match up to my memory of them. Ditto about being unsocial after my flight, so didn't go up and say hi.

Now to work out who the FT'er was!!

Deleted my last post because I just noticed that the Mantra doesn't have the FF logo on the booking page, sorry ozbeachbabe.
:oops::oops::oops:
Cheers

That's alright - if I had the runs I probably wouldn't be sociable either. :p

Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

In other news, I'm madly preparing for my own departure out of the country, requiring:
  • Purchase of a new camera
  • Preparation of my conference presentation
  • Packing (with ironing to be done)
It's going to be a mad day tomorrow, as if my calendar tomorrow hadn't been packed enough from weeks ago.

Sorry, couldn't help myself :)

Hmm. Still not in a social mood ;)

[*]Purchase of a new camera

So have you narrowed it down to a shortlist?

The DSC-WX10 looks promising:

16.2 Mega Pixel W Series 7x Optical Zoom Cyber-shot

The Cyber-shot DSC-WX10 features a 16.2-megapixel "Exmor R" CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera's Sony G lens. It delivers extremely fast speed, high resolution and stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity.

16.2 Mega Pixels "Exmor R" CMOS sensor
7x Optical Zoom
3D Still Image and 3D Sweep Panorama
24mm wide angle Sony "G Lens"
AVCHD Full HD movie recording
2.8" Clear Photo LCD Plus display

But at $399 (retail) in Australia, not sure it's in the right price range. I would have bought that one instead if I saw it in the U.S ... but it didn't seem to be available in the places I looked.

That camera I can get at cheapest almost immediately (stock permitting) for $336.00, without adding extended warranty and other accessories. It's also from a bricks and mortar store (not your chain stores either, but quite cheap compared to the outlets).

The other model I was looking at was the WX7, a slight step down on a few specs at a $60 differential. But if they have the WX10 I might just grab it.

The Canon S95 has a CCD rather than CMOS sensor, with some close-to-DSLR credentials on it, however it pays in less optical zoom (3.8x only) and much more expensive price.

I have a suspicion (but not 100% sure) that the WX7 is a slightly older model. But not 100% sure.

I'm iimpressed with my WX9 so far. There are a few quirks - no touch screen, so everything is buttons, the LCD isn't great in bright sunlight, no manual viewfinder, camera doesn't come with case or SD card, the battery/sd card cover clip seems not as strong as it could be and some more.

There are plenty of "Hmm, nice - but I'm never going to use it" functions, like taking 3D photos you can display on your 3D tv,

But I'm impressed so far...

I'll see if I can dig out some random shots I've taken and upload them somewhere.

I think they are just different models in the same range, although the releases of each are expected to be slightly staggered.

Manual viewfinders are going the way of the dodo except in the more expensive and DSLR range. And I'd much prefer to have tactile buttons over a touch screen.

Yesterday, I worked at the V8s in Perth. Today I went back to my regular job. Is it wrong that I found work today rather boring because nothing exploded and none of my patients were on fire?!

For those who have no idea what that means, watch this:
YouTube - V8 Supercars Barbagallo Perth 01.05.2011 Karl Reindler Crash TV

For those who want to know what I look like - fat female in fluoro yellow. Thankfully the camera has cut away from the dreadful sight of me running
