Currently in Oslo waiting for my SAS flight to CPH.

Interesting flight from Dublin, 1hour delay and just before take off the captain announced some cloud and storms around but clear during cruise, the English version was short.

A few bumps during climb followed by a bang with a flash of light, plane was hit by lightning.

Well that was a new experience, I remember talking to someone at Ozfest wondering what it was like, well now I know.

Oslo has free wifi, when you go to a food shop and buy something.

Made it to CPH without incident.

I was reading the inflight magazine for SAS which was talking about how fuel efficient the new 737-NGs were over the MD82 that I was flying on, well I guess the MD82 might cost more to operate I am sure its lease costs will be a lot less.

Interesting in the main cabin all food and drink is charged, I thought US airlines were the worst.

Another 2 airlines to report on tomorrow, Cimber Sterling and Air Berlin, the next potential oneworld airline.

Copenhagen Crowne Plaza towers is nice, shuttle from the airport is provided, although it is not well sign posted, using the tripit software makes life easy, but I guess you would need a phone that works as well.

After the last 2 days, I really expected to wake up this morning with another big announcement made. I'd even take Rex having their frequent flyer program up and running again!

But sadly, that's not the case.

Unless I've missed something?

The Rex frequent flyer "revamp" has to be one of the worst stuff ups I have ever seen,it was supposed to be relaunched in early December 2010 then when it didn't happen I rang just before Christmas and was told "It will definitely be late January",5 months on and still nothing,I rang again yesterday and the call centre operator told me that frankly they were sick and tired of answering calls about it,they have been told nothing and have no idea when it will be relaunched.
It's totally ridiculous in my opinion, maybe they sacked the person who was in charge of the revamp and they haven't been able to replace them.
Cheers

Must have hired the guys that did the Diners computer upgrades!

Another day another new airport and another new airline.

This morning I was flying on Cimber Sterling a Danish based airline which flies a few Danish domestic routes plus flights throughout Europe with its main base in Billund where I am now.

Danish domestic flights offer free seating, there is no service onboard and todays flight was on an ATR42.

Not much of a view across Denmark due to the low cloud cover, with the cloud only just clearing enough with less than 1 minute before landing. You would think it wasn't summer in Europe, but it is rather warm at 16C and all the buildings are well heated.

Next up a flight down to Germany on Cimber Sterling traveling on a CRJ-200, a new airplane type, I missed the Kendell CRJ200s.

Currently drinking .............. Port, in Portugal. As you do.... pity the sunshine has taken a hiatus :(

Why am I getting a "your flight not available for seat selection"?

J class, domestic. 738 is the operating a/c.

T- 102hr (approx).

Arrived at BNE D today for my first flight in a long chain, QF625. In the process:
  • Was greeted at the NGCI Service Desk line by ozbeachbabe, sporting the professional-as-always navy blue Qantas ground staff uniform
  • Was checked in at Premium Service by my sister's former high school tennis team mate, who used to work in the Qantas Club but now does check-in
  • Decided to go a long way for steps and went to DJ security rather than QF security, and in the process saw my family friend working people through the line before swapping with someone else to do explosives detection. And just for good measure, I happened to get selected for testing by him.

No flying today off to see Pompei, I hope I don't get lost.

The CRJ200 flight was rather boring, lots of cloud around Europe, The operating aircraft was interesting a CRJ200 of Cimber Sterling but in SAS colors with a Danish registration OY-RJC.

Air Berlin was almost full service which was a surprise, although the Air Berlin terminal 1 at Munich was rather dull.

Having similar problem. Previous seat selection gone from booking and select function is not working....
I have a feeling equipment swap has occurred

Not sure, I've noticed the same for a dash 8 flight that I booked today. Just figured it was due to operating aircraft limitations. Also for a QF codeshare on a DB train.

You cannot advance seat select on QFlink, that explains the dash 8 issue, they also switch it off if a flight may change type.

Just finished the gruelling journey from MEL to LHR via HKG. Flight in Y was full on each leg.

On the HKG-LHR leg, the CSM visited all WPs and in Y was given a set of noise cancelling headphones.

Another surprise was that oneworld Emerald seems to get access to T5 fast track. Well, staring at a long line, I asked a BA official if oneworld Emerald was fine to use fast track. She didn't waste much time in saying 'yes'. Cut my total waiting-in-security time by at least 80%.

Hi all,
I am having lunch tomorrow with a travel friend. He is going to Florida very soon to watch the very last shuttle launch.
I had a fossick around and found this 9 minute tape on youtube of the only launch that I was able to see. It was in Nov 1981, it was only the 2nd ever launch, and it was the Columbia, that was later lost tragically. Now you young-uns have to watch the whole tape for the fashions/high tech gear, and if you want to cut to the launch, that is about 5:30 secs in.
Please enjoy,
John
