Also in BKK wondering why the heck did I buy the stuff I did at MBK and how I will stuff it into my suitcase. So hot and humid as well and sandbags piling up everywhere in anticipation for flooding this weekend.

There is a group of us having lunch at Som Tam Nua on Soi 5 near Siam BTS from 1pm today. Feel free to come along.

Exit Siam station. Go to the south side of the street (other side from Paragon Mall) and walk down soi 5. You'll see it toward the end on the left. It's adjacent to the empty construction site which used to be a movie theater until it was torched last May.

You might get to meet KenF, his wife Pat and Willard the bear, I haven't met them for 5 years, last saw them at the London Mega Do in November 2006.

Small world when Flyertalkers are involved.

So what are the poor people doing tonight? I'm sitting in the BKK Intercontinental Hotel Balcony Bar listening to some fine jazz. Life is good. :)

(And yes I am alone using free internet.)
At Hilton on the Park (using free internet) and waiting for the Meatloaf concert tonight.

For somethinng different SWMBO has done all the shopping in advance and there were a pile of boxes in my hotel room waiting for me when I checked in. I took a "sensible" four wheel bag fully packed inside a big suitcase.

At 3am there is very little on US cable TV.

Goddammit that's twice! What was that other concert you went to awhile back that was a bit 'left of field' for you?

No, "sensible" would have been an empty wheelie bag packed inside an big suitcase! ;)

If you were lucky you would've been able to take a rollaboard as carry on with the bare essentials for your trip.

I could have done that easily and indeed started packing like that. But then I thought, given its only a few t-shirts etc, why lug it around the airport if I'd have to check luggage anyway? So I just had a couple of magazines and the Macbook air. And I would have had to buy another suitcase for the shopping, I have an entire shed full of cheap Japanese four-wheeled suitcases and thought I would save some money this time!

With the silly season looming large I am faced with my annual dilemma.....do I buy a Xmas tree or not? I haven't had one for the last ten years, am not religious and never see any family over this period. But somehow I still have to at least consider, buying a tree; for those 4 weeks when it will twinkle with lights, run up my power bill, create a fire hazard and then a storage problem for the other 48 weeks of the year.

Yes, a nice real one that smells nice. No electrics for me. Silver baubles only. Compost it when done.

I passed my thesis review milestone today. Basically means that the review team are convinced I can finish my thesis within 6 months.

Now I hope my sleep patterns can return to normal...

Congratulations D2....a scholar in our midst.

I got into trouble the other night, until I finished my jobs :o

Hope you find use for those cards ;)

Well done but sounds like there is still a lot more hard work and sleepless nights in front of you.

I may well have resurrected an Urban Myth yesterday at MEL.Boarding my flight to BNE and near the head of one of the lines(no priority boarding signs or announcements)when a fellow trys to push past saying I am gold and have priority.I dont know what came over me but as quick as a flash(and quicker than D1;)) I replied "well I am life time platinum".Now not exactly a lie but I did forget to add-on AA.
Noticed a few look my way.

Hanging out in Tamworth for the weekend in a "2nd on call" arrangement - I'm unlikely to be called for anything, but I have to stay no further than 20 minutes from Tamworth Base Hospital. Now, what to do with 48 hours of nothing?
