Everyone talks about the heat but I only remember the good times :)
At times the heat was quite bad today but not so bad in the evening.

I think every young person, and some not so young people, in Townsville end up at the Strand on weekends. Lots of drunk kids and loud music. Not my type of place but it is a lovely setting so can see why people want to spend time there.

Definitely recommend Juliet's on the Strand in Townsville for icecream- bliss on a warm day!

Yep, a Masters degree via commuting to Townsville and Juliet's is the main memory I have ;-) Also the BNE QP since I spent so much time flying from PER!

I love how the car rental special offer rates cut off on December 19....

Haven't you bought that GPS yet JohnK?
Don't really need one in Sydney as I know where I am going most times and when I do hire a car away from Sydney it is just another item that I need to remember to carry with me.

Another delay means another chance to tell you all where I am now.

Spent 2 nights in Berlin, flew into Berlin(SXF) the East German one, the site for the new Berlin airport which is due to open in June 2012.

Signed up for a walking tour, that didn't happen but found another 1 about 2 hours later which I went on, very interesting, the tours hand out advertising for other events and tours so I found out about a pub crawl, so thought I would go along to that, 4 bars in 4 hours, with about 40/50 people tagging along. A few Australians, English, Americans, Danish and even Germans, that was rather fun, and the funniest part, the chief organizer was an Australian, based in Berlin for the last few years. :)

Today I had another look at Check point Charlie and just rode around on the S Bahn and U Bahn, then caught the bus to the airport, Berlin Tegel(TXL) which is due to close in June and everything will be transferred to the new airport, same runways as SXF but a complete new building.

So I flew from Berlin to Brussels on an RJ100(basically a newer version of a BAE146) and onto London, and it is in Brussels where I am now, seems like they combined 2 flights into 1, so I ran through Brussels with a 45 minute connection to find my flight was delayed(combined) with the later flight, at least my UK dinner plans never firmed up so all is not lost.

My lufthansa status run gets me access to the Brussels Airlines lounge in Brussels where I wait for the 2 hours eating a few snacks and drink some of the beer.

Was that the Sandemans / New Europe walking tours? I've found them to be pretty good IME throughout various European destinations.

Just had a text message from BB.

He has now made it to London BUT his bags are still off on holidays elsewhere :!: :(

Know that feeling! As a friend on FB said to me "so your bags are MIA in MIA"!

We departed San Juan on our cruise thinking we wouldn't see them until we got back however AA flew the bags to St Croix (STX) which was our first cruise port so we only had 48 hours without them.

In St Georges Grenada today which is pretty hot & just about to do a short tour.

Back home in Australia, all bags arrived, now it's back to work. Qantas PE was nice but the final flight QF52 was the worst, food ok just a disinterested cabin crew, like they didn't want to be there.

Now to finish the trip report.

Brisbane is supposed to be cooler today but I am already finding it too humid.

Tomorrow I am off, it was nice knowing all those I met, both online and offline.

Yours sincerely,

Good luck for today.
