Geez by that time they'd probably have to give you a new one, except it's not policy (save for the lemon rule). They've changed the MB and it's still going dead? They didn't check **** before they sent it to you....

That's why I don't like Toshiba's. Had a bad experience once with my first laptop (back in 2000), 3 motherboards, several keyboards, a HDD and goodness knows what else....... haven't touched them since! ;)

I can handle a company selling a faulty product. I can even understand a repair not working if it is a strange repair.

On the good side online tracking shows it is under repair now. Last repair was pending parts for a week.

It seems to have worked for a couple of hours before it failed again. I think it is a bit of a leap to say they didn't check ****, given by all accounts it would have looked like it was working!

Wow bad luck. I've had good luck with toshiba laptops. First one (1999) worked well until it was stolen. The next one, replacement on insurance worked really well, until going down a river in a flash flood inside a car. However, the HDD pulled straight out and work in the first laptop, which Vicpol had recovered. The 3rd toshiba laptop, provided by insurance to replace the second one, is still going well something like 7 years later.

Perhaps it was a bit of a leap, though when I worked at Harvey Norman we usually subjected all repairs to fairly thorough tests (including case tests) before we release them back to the customer.

But you could be right - could just be the Swiss cheese of life lining up now, and a statistically faulty part replacing a known faulty one.

Browsing AFF is hazardous while cooking… I just burnt rice… FML!

Big deal - just cook a new batch.

Besides, are you frying the rice or something? A little hard to burn it.....

So Labor believes it will win the next election with the person who could not even win the unlosable election?

And could Gillard go down in history as the only prime minister serving 2 terms and never having won an election? Glad to see democracy at it's finest....

Well.. we are in a leap year ;)

I suspect it was a misdiagnosis of the actual fault - the symptoms went away after replacing the MB, it booted up etc so was "fixed". However, the real fault is either in the charging circuit (either adapter or inside the laptop), or the battery. When I logged the call I just reported "No boot". When I logged it again today, I ran through my suspicions as to the cause. Will be interesting to see what they swap next!

I did boil a new batch!

The pan will need soaking for a while as it’s very black on the bottom.

I was doing the absorption method, but walked away and when I came back there was no more water.

Can someone recommend a private car service in AKL? I have excellent ones in Melbourne, Sydney, London and New York, and need to expand my catalogue. I'm sick of stinky bad taxis everywhere I go (although I've generally had good ones in AKL).

Easiest way in the world to cook white rice:

1 cup of rice
2 cups of water
microwave save bowl, covered
nuke for 15 minutes
stand for 10 minutes (or sit, but don't touch the rice).
Done. Works brilliantly.

Brown rice same, but make it around 25 minutes. If you're doing 2 cups, you need to add time that'll depend on your microwave power:)

Send a PM to ask BossReggie would be my plan as he travels there frequently.

I suspect his service may be a little out of my price range ;) I'm happy with something like Dial7 in NY, just a private taxi effectively doesn't need to be a luxury vehicle. Will try though thanks:) Any other suggestions still welcome.

Umm, I think this is a scam but I've now got a second email inviting me to be in Marquis who's who in the world. I ignored the first but finally googled them, expecting a heap of scam hits. However it turns out there actually is a Marquis who's who. Apparently, they got my name via a private nomination process.

Any experiences with this mob (apparently part of News Corp)? I'm still thinking scam. I am but a minor functionaire.
