The totally off-topic thread

Yep Sunnys Coast did have some rain yesterday,

About 50 people got stranded in a shopping centre.

Hope you're getting dry very quickly! Can't be too good living with all that water swirling around.

400mm in 5 hours between Mooloolaba & Caloundra yesterday.....caused a little drama:!:

We had to to To Maroochydore yesterday afternoon and then went into Sunshine Plaza and did realise the full extent of the weather until we went to drive home.

And we live between Mooloolaba and Caloundra. It sure came down.Totally overpowered the stormwater drains.Fortunately we drove home from Maroochydore just before the deluge. It started as we were going through Kawana.

At the risk of dragging this thread 'on topic' does anyone have any idea if BA have any plans to install their new "world traveller plus" into their ancient 747's? I know they're in the process of retiring them, but like QF, their 787 order is so far behind they're keeping the birds in the air longer than they'd have liked. I have 4 747 Y+ flights on them coming up from SYD and LHR respectively in the next few weeks, and was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to be in the old seats, but am figuring I will be (and of course, they're the worst Y+ seats in or out of AU, but at least it's better than Y I guess).

I am heading that way for the weekend ... lets hope is holds back for a few days.

Any thoughts on re-naming the Sunshine Coast?
Any thoughts on renaming the whole of Queensland?

There is no way it can accurately be described as the sunshine state. I am not one to look at statistics but I would hazard a guess and say that other states have more sunny days in a year than Queensland.

Just wait for El Niño to rear it’s head again and we’ll be back to lots of sunshine and perhaps even droughts!

At risk of dragging this thread further on topic, but needed to rant to get this off my chest - carefully waiting in line at BKK to check in for my flight to KUL on RJ, waiting as the checkin staff have just sat down so are turning on their computers etc. Flying J and OW Sapphire so in the one "Crown Class" line, with 4 empty Y lines next to me, when this guy walks straight past all the other lines and past me and stands at the desk. Doesn't even acknowledge me, although there is noone around so he had to have seen me, doesn't apologise etc. Had to wait a few minutes longer to check in as the other checkin girls' computers weren't ready yet... and after all that, I spotted OW ruby card and don't think the guy was in J - probably a DYKWIA, given he proceeded to argue with the checkin staff about ?interlining onto SAS and a rather tight connection.... ;) Good luck with that, sir! The checkin lady was very apologetic, especially once she realised I was actually J and OWS but as I told her, it wasn't her that was rude but Mr DYKWIA. Cue karma?!

Oh well, now in the QF lounge - the only person as far as I can tell! Not touching any of the food, it looks like it's still there from breakfast... its now 1330! Possibly the most sad, soggy and anaemic looking waffles I have ever seen, in the bain marie :D Apparently RJ uses the Thai lounge so I shall head there shortly and compare. Hopefully my 'friend' from checkin isn't there... ;)

If you're heading to Mooloolaba & not participating in the triathlon - it might be a little crowded.

I have been there for 4 years and I think I have seen sunshine 3-4 times!

Last night I came back to my apartment and was getting in the lift when the hotel receptionist was going up to assist a man (appeared to be from USA) with the remote. While I was in the lift he asked her what the forecast was for tomorrow. Immediately I thought of saying "Dreary and gloomy!" but held off and she simply and politely replied more rain.

Not nice I know....

Been sunny here all day, but I'm seeing a concert at Riverstage tomorrow night so I'm just hoping it lasts. I'd have been very happy with rain today and sun tomorrow!



Maybe the Gold Coast was sunny but Brisbane was gloomy all day. In fact it has been gloomy all week.

At one stage I was thinking delays but not sure why I would have that type of thought on my mind! ;)

Ah.. and people complain about London? We've had a lot more sunshine and less rain by the sound of it

I thought the dark clouds over the executive building /parliament in Brisbane today was pretty telling...
