You guys were making me jealous so I had to check.

I have 20 domestic bookings not including the 3 international bookings on *Alliance carriers and Virgin Atlantic.

No flights for October-December yet as I want to be free to pull the plug if I so choose....

Yeah I didn't really want to say anything about the number of bookings. ;)

Has anyone seen the film "moneyball"?

What the heck kind of plane are they on where seats face each other with a table in the middle? It looks like some kind of J cabin?

Passport finally arrived from UBKA. Looking at flights for next week, can do just under £900 return which is not bad for last minute I guess on QF. BA slightly cheaper at £870.

If you can put up with it, just take BA. Status ain't gonna matter, I think QP should be fine on the JSA route, earning rates are aligned at 1 for JSA route.

For last minute that kind of price is actually pretty damn good (though a slightly off-keel perspective from an Australian point of view since our dollar has been devaluing fast).

I've seen the screenplay and I get the impression it was a private conveyance.

I wondered about that, there seemed to be other people in the scene who didn't appear to be part of the team. Actually it looked like a train until I saw the shape of the windows.

Cost isn't really an issue. I can select seats on QF, whereas I can't on BA so went with QF in the end. See my thread on http://www.australianfrequentflyer....r-program/a380-y-best-seats-80a-16487-15.html

Oh yeah - forgot about seat selection

Turns out I may pop over to SYD for a day as well for work, so keep your eyes peeled people, I may be in SYD as well (for a day!) on May 25. I can see myself sleeping very, very well on the flight home on the Sunday.

Can't remember the scene, but the plane could be a either the team's private plane or more likely a charter jet from one of the US based airlines.

I have been on a Southwest aircraft as well as an American West aircraft with that config, like the BA J seats it's quite a different experience seated backwards.

Edit: Both those were without the table, it was actually a US Air DC9 I flew on that had the table: [url]http://boardingarea.com/blogs/frequentlyflying/2011/04/11/vintage-airline-seat-map-usair-dc-9-30/

Locally of course we have the Dash 8s with rear facing seats.

Damn, I think I will be in MEL, then flying to CBR for OzFest, but keep us posted, would be good to catch up over a quick coffee (as you will probably need one, rather than a beer ;)).

May be about to do a cardinal sin. DJ over, QF back. $299 for a DJ Flexi fare vs $524 for a QF non-flex fare. Coming back isn't so bad, though.

I assume you mean PER-SYD?

If I was you, I would book the DJ Flexi fare, then try and upgrade it (you currently need 50% of normal points), or use an upgrade cert if you have any (or can get any). It may be your only J flight of the trip ;)

$524 for discount whY on QF is expensive (and only 20 SCs... or 40 SC if you have a double SC offer that covers those dates, although it may be just out of them???)... Did you try routing via MEL, ADL or BNE?

Routing via anything jacks it up hugely for the last flight of the day. I don't have any DJ points unfortunately, and I closed off my AU AMEX only 2 weeks ago, so had transferred them all over to SPG. Happy for people to donate an upgrade though! ;) Only Gold, so don't think I get any comp. upgrades either.

Also, only 20 SC for PER-SYD and no double SC for me!

I'd donate a complimentary upgrade from my account to you in an instant, except:
  • You'd need to purchase a Flexi fare (OK, maybe that's not an 'except'), and
  • I don't know if you can legitimately do so
