Out of Spring Hill area hotels near you, I'd recommend:
St Pauls (St Pauls Terrace), Maybe the Spring Hill Hotel on Leichardt - although the patrons are a bit scary at times, Trans Hotel opposite Roma St Station, or even the Holiday Inn bar wasn't too bad. Most of the others around the place (ie near Central station etc) are a bit W*NKV.
