Heli landing spots in bne cbd are rare. I can't think of any building with one except the two major hospitals just outside of the cbd.

Can anyone think of any building with one? Perhaps Google maps would help...

IIRC, the only commercial one was the floating one attached to the Kangaroo Point side of the river, opposite Fridays. But that went years ago??

I'm back in the office and haven't managed to wreck anything yet! Plenty of time though!

I am looking forward to being in BNE this weekend!!

Lindsay Wilson..... I arrive on Sunday!

YBVH was the designator of the old Brisbane River heliport near parliament and directly opposite Southbank, it was closed after the incident with what used to be Barry Sheenes A109:

It was too fat for the surface of the helideck.

Apart from the Hospitals the nearest pad is Helitechs on the Brisbane River near the gateway bridge - YTEK

Surely the Cheif of Airforce could have made alternate arrangements for a slightly faster option than a DHC8 or 734 typically operated by QF on that route ;)
Not at the last minute :!:

... oops sorry. You obviously meant a DJ 737 :!:

I went to a function in Canberra yesterday evening where Qantas was not quite the flavour of the day. The Chief of Airforce was two hours late as Qantas cancelled two successive flights out of Sydney :!:

If this was the LOFAP he would have his own plane :p

I think it would be frowned upon in the tabloids if he made such alternative arrangements. Although that would be fun - Equipment change 734 to F/A-18F

Or did you mean the 737–700 BBJ that the PM gets around in?

Probably more than likely a CL604 which is CBR based, BTW the BBJ is a 700 with a 738s wing, centre section and landing gear, we have two of them !

He could probably handle most of these types as he has a background of Chinook Helicopters, FA-18 and F-111s.

The function I went to was for the retirement of Air Commodore John Oddie who was a former student of mine.

Is that three spoke wheel really the handle? Bit big isn't it?

Also, Congrats :)

Thankyou!

Yeah that spoke thing is the handle. You can turn it but does not appear it have any real function as you can lock up the fridge with a key.

And in what is one of the most bizarre travel experiences i've ever had, I'm sitting quietly here in the VA lounge in MEL minding my own business and a lady starts screaming out 'COCAINE! DRUGS! MISSED CONNECTION INSURANCE! LOST LUGGAGE!' and then a few seconds later "CHOCOLATE! HAS ANYONE GOT CHOCOLATE OR ANYTHING IN THOSE SEALED THINGS'. After a little while, the police came to which she started screaming at the police "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! F$#K ME! PLEASE HAVE SEX WITH ME!' and proceeded to throw up on the floor. I'm scared to look as it would be too obvious!

Voila !! My carry-on to the LOTFAP tomorrow. Ten day trip.
For the females who are interested it contains 3 pairs of shoes, hairdryer, GHD's and enough clothes for a new outfit every day plus a couple of spares :D Weighs 7.8kg, I also have another small tote with LAG's, iPad etc.
Will of course be buying a $20 sports bag to check-in all the booty on the way back

I knew there was a reason I flew Qantas!!

I, on the other hand, have just over 100 and with the exception of a few... I have met all of them, and also keep in contact.

I am travelling so regularly, I personally find it a great way of keeping in touch.

Obviously, my close friends tend to get phone calls and text messages.

I have also NEVER had a single member of my staff on Facebook, as to me... It is my personal life and the 2 don't mix.
I don't have a problem with having bosses/work colleagues/acquaintances in my Facebook friends lists - but that's only because I know how to separate and segment content in such a way that things I don't want one group seeing won't be seen by them.

It does take quite a lot of time, knowledge and investment to use the tool in this way - but it gives me the freedom that, if I so need to, I can cough about someone with impunity and they'll never hear about it (unless I think it's worth taking the time to try and resolve with them first).

The only exception to that however is twitter, which is pretty much my consciousness in real time. And errors on twitter, we'll I've made a few. Mistakes and experience learn from ones does as Yoda would say.

*waits for friend requests & people trolling to find what I may or may not have said about them*

Weak. I'm yet to meet a mini bar in a hotel that I could not easily finish!
Is there a prize for finishing the mini bar?

It may sound like it is not in good taste but those sort of propositions would be interesting!
