I am trying to lose weight but so far I am going nowehre and all that has happened is I am starving and not drinking.

On that note, I've found Tim Ferriss's Four Hour Body quite interesting. Trying to mostly live its principles, but not doing the best right now. Favouriate part, rather than being completely alcohol free, you can have dry red wine.

But, with any health or weight loss regime, it has to be something that works for your bodyand your mentality.

I have tried everything I can possibly think of and all to no avail and I can definitely say my body does not work. Well not the way I want it to work anyway.

If I consume an extra 3,500 calories in one week then I go up by 1/2 kilo but if I consume 3,500 calories less then next week that 1/2 kilo does not come off.

Consistency and patience JohnK! Weight loss takes time, unfortunately the body has its own ways of choosing when to drop the fat. It is very normal to lose 2 kilos one week and none the other, even with the same calorie deficit. Just make sure you know how much you are eating and stick with it, focus on the long term or else you will go crazy with the weight fluctuations that are normal when on a fat loss journey.

4 wisdoms come out in the morning
Prepared for a slightly painful week ahead
Advantage of being a uni student is that no one will really miss me this week! I'll just try and enjoy the rest of the olympics :)

I know that some people are not in favour of Newman's recent massive job cull, but does everyone have to jump on the bandwagon and blame random events for their own failures in resilience?

Job cuts leave Brisbane's CBD like a ghost town and carparks empty | News.com.au

Come on - car parking garages blaming the government for their financial woes? Give me a bl**dy break......

And if most independent cafes can actually produce a decent, fresh and delicious sandwich worth handing over $7 for, they'd probably be better populated.

Bah, take it like a man. :) :D :p

Looks like you're on a smoothie diet for a while.
haha!

all went a-ok. love modern medicine...went to sleep, wake up, all done :D back at home now but still on local anesthetic obviously so the mouth feels weird.

mustn't open the las vegas buffet thread LOL

Why am I reminded of those cyclists who have to spend lots of $$$ on fancy biking gear to simply show off - regardless of their actual abilities? "oooh a seat thats 100grams lighter"..wait what about that extra serving of food you ate beforehand?

Oooh sitting in 23B instead of 33B

Different strokes for different folks! :)

(too OT from another thread)
Heathrow to Stansted in a QF 747. Fuel strike at Heathrow, flight was about 8 minutes. On the ground for 2 hours before we could depart for BKK. About 10 years ago now.
Ironically this time next week there will be another QF 747 at Stansted, the Olympics charter bringing the team home.
Hopefully a few pax holding gold status.
Well, that can be at least four PAX currently with Gold (although it may be a ¼ of a medal each:p).

Yeah, total beat-up article that one ... BTW, I do have a "Reader's comment" in there somewhere :D Wonder if anyone can pick which was mine! <edit: The comment was on a different version of the article that I can't find any more>

Had a mate text me the morning after and ask "is the city really a ghost town now?." I responded with a picture of the view up Queen Street Mall. Nope - just as busy as usual.

Of course the gardens end of George st is a world removed from the queens st mall. People are still shopping. School kids are still loitering with intent. Doesn't mean public servants are patronising coffee shops.

Sent from the Throne

I have certainly observed quite a lot of patronising of shops in & around the Queen St mall precinct of late.. especially with the evolution of the distinctive upmarket branded boutiques moving in & around Edward St.. So surely to spend 1 - 2 million on a fit out must represent & consider an upward trend in spend values of 'Brisbaneites"

I am persevering but not sure how much longer.

It may well be time for some drastic measures such as the cabbage soup diet for a week or 2.

Let's hope....... it's very shameful being an Aussie in London right now!! At least I'm working with mainly Aussies, so can't cop any stick at work ;)

Yay - we might just overtake the Kiwis, who currently sit on 3 gold and numerous places up the leaderboard from us.

However, nothing will ameliorate the impending smackdown Swimming Australia will be dealing once their pool paddlers return home from the antipodes.

Just do as in Rome - support the Britons! Better than risking getting ribbed or beaten up! (OK, not as bad as a football match and cheering for the wrong team in the wrong colours in the wrong stands....)

You would think I should know which sport is associated with Laser class? Can't be bothered looking it up but I am guessing it is sailing.
