This was from the Sydney Daily Telegraph when Leisel Jones was in the news re her weight
"That's what journalists do.They ask questions. If you want to read "positive" and "supportive" stories, feel free to knock yourself out with a bunch of Herograms."-I am not sure Andrew Webster (journalist) will look back at that in 20yrs & be proud of his career

Since when has a journalist, media editor, politician or judge (to name a few) ever said that they regretted anything over their "proud" career?

The very few that probably do were most likely already well respected anyway.

Well in my opinion, sport is ultimately a pasttime, and not being good at sports is a real "first world problem" (as so aptly used around here). I don't see how failure at Olympics can be used as justification to take more money from society, money that should be used in a way that benefits everyone.

I'd rather see the money pumped into school/kids sporting programmes.......haven't seen that many obese* Olympians.

* Excluding those that participate in the really popular sports like hammer throw, shot put, judo, roman greco wrestling & hot dog eating;)

Absolutely. This is something that benefits everyone.

I get the feeling that pumping money into sport dies benefit everyone. Unless you mean the only meaningful money is being spent on elite sports. Then I would agree

Give the poor more handouts so they can spend the money on pokie machines....

Was a great set of races too! Well done to Anna Meares!

Loving the Brits outrage and bleating on about Anna Meares tactics, saying she cheated when it was their own rider who was relegated in the first race.

Sore losers much ;)

It's impossible to cheat at this level of competition anyway the rules are completely unambiguous and iron clad.

We were listening to the BBC feed and they said it was Anna's fault Victoria crossed the line (and was relegated because of it)

Sitting in the MEL J lounge atm. It is blowing a gale - just what I need to settle my 'lack of sleep, feeling sick' stomach :(
