The totally off-topic thread

Whilst we don't have a for sale thread, I thought i'd try to flog a new MacBook Pro I have. Insurance replaced it, but as i'd rather use a MacBook Air (and the insurance company would not replace my broken one with an Air) I have to sell this one to buy a new one. Anyone interested? Base model MacBook air 15" (see Official Apple Store Australia - Buy the new iPad and MacBook Pro with Retina display, iPhone, iPod, and More - Apple Store (Australia) for the base model, the $1999 one). Free shipping Australia Wide for AFF members. Name a price. Happy to negotiate. Not after full retail by any stretch of the imagination. It was replaced a week ago and I haven't opened the box, so it's effectively a full 12 month warranty.

Wise choice! I have both of the varieties, both brilliant tech pieces.. but find that the MacBook Air is so much better in terms of weight when in transit. Though sure it will be a sought after commodity to sell - at a favourable price :D

You'd think so wouldn't you! it's on gumtree (home of the person after the best for nothing). I've not had an offer over $1500 despite the assurances of it being sealed in new box with a full warranty. I've had one offer me $1100 and swear it's not a current model (despite me knowing Apple products far too well!).

The issue is now compounded that work today agreed to buy me a nice spec'd out Retina MacBook Pro with full Apple Care. This laptop is coming home, and I don't need *three* of 'em!

C'mon people buy it save an AFF'er from dealing with cough*tards on Gumtree ;)

I'll give you $1501 for it ;)

I would offer you $1502 if it wasn't an Apple! :p

Then again I could still offer you $1502 and increase the bid for the other interested party. ;)

Waited until last night to wash my clothes because I knew today would be warm and sunny to hang them up outside, but I was not informed of the workmen doing stuff in the backyard which means I couldn't (can't) hang them up.

I've had to use the clothes dryer as I've got nothing clean left and I must pack and leave home within the hour...my stuff is going to shrink. :(

Your post reads as if you only have a few clothes (or you need to wash more often) ;), personally I find washing easy, folding and ironing much harder.

Most people cannot tell the difference between a virus or bacteria.

If you're a fit and well 20 year old, with a cough and running nose, and the bloke you drunkenly snogged on the weekend has a cold, chances are it's a virus :P (Don't worry, JohnK, I am not accusing you of this! :p)
And if you show up to EMERGENCY with your mild cold, passing the 6 ambulances parked out the front, without trying cough syrup or panadol, and then spend the next hour whinging loudly about the wait (next to genuinely unwell people who have been patiently waiting far longer), there won't be a lot of sympathy for you!

My fave was the lady who had a day and a half of vomiting (but had still kept down water and half a vegemite sanga) who showed up worried she might starve to death from not eating.... it's fair to say based on her figure she was NOT in danger of starvation any time soon! She didn't believe the triage nurse when he told her humans can last for weeks without food - she insisted on waiting to see a doctor to verify this.

Let's be honest, if I had a cure for the common cold I wouldn't be working in a public hospital, I'd be making millions and living on a beach somewhere!

Little from column A, little from column B. Spent the last week leaving home at 7am and working til 10pm so washing takes a back seat when I just want to collapse in bed!!

That's when you need some hardier clothes. You know, stuff that doesn't easily shrink in the heat. :)

Now who slept with who in order to get that flattery written:?: :)

I stopped believing a long time ago that dryers shrink clothes...

Having lived in PER for around 22 years, it's never been nor will it ever become the next 'it' city that's for sure :)

(especially as people can't afford to do anything there if they don't earn an income there; I took my parents to lunch at a little café in Applecross, nothing fancy, and lunch for three (no alcohol) was $100).

Maybe it's my waist line growing

Chilling in the VA Lounge in PER now. First time here for a while, nice enough. Fluoro brigade is absent (well I think there are some camouflaged elements, if you know what I mean ;))

Tomato and basil soup, sandwiches and bar on offer. Not bad, nice place to spend 2.5 hours before the flight I think.

Anyway gotta go and fix up and submit my resume, applying for a short-term position at one of the major airlines. Fingers crossed!

Hopefully not safety officer at Tiger
haha..no..although you're on the right track with the animal ;)

EDIT: And I've witnessed the first hand grab at the cold meats

WHAT ARE THE TONGS THERE FOR PEOPLE?!
