I see the QF baggage allowance for SG has changed yet again - it's now 2 @ 32 kg each which is now the same as what WP's get, unless that has now changed.

Prior to 31 May 2011: unlimited pieces up to a total weight of 33 kg (excess $10.00 per kilo)
Effective 01 Jun 2011: 1 piece @ 32 kg
Sep or Oct 2011: 2 pieces @ 23 kg
29 Aug 2012: 2 pieces @ 32 kg

Extra pieces of excess if paid at airport $30.00 for the first piece & $60.00 per piece after that. A maximum of two extra pieces can be pre-paid online for $20.00 each.

Do I now hear cries of devaluing of WP, no difference now between SG & WP etc etc.

Any of the AFFer's living in Brisbane have advice regarding which suburbs to relocate a family to , contemplating a move from Adelaide up to the sunshine?

Push on up to the Sunny Coast......just be sure you have a job or a self funded as commuting to Brisbane is not recommended.

Depends on where you might be working and what you like to do when not working.

haha..no..although you're on the right track with the animal ;)

EDIT: And I've witnessed the first hand grab at the cold meats

WHAT ARE THE TONGS THERE FOR PEOPLE?!

Ewwww... much agreed! Grabbing bread rolls with bare hands is one thing, but geez! Surprised that you did not get indignant, though I'm supposing that making a scene would prove little value (and of little consequence to the offender).

(I assume tongs were provided. I've seen lounge buffets surprisingly absent of tongs, or cross-contamination due to tong shortage - but in such cases I use my own (clean) cutlery)

Having lived in PER for around 22 years, it's never been nor will it ever become the next 'it' city that's for sure :)

I had no idea you were there that long. :)

I was assuming the PER brigade were going to go after me after I posted that remark. Where's thewinchester when you need him? :p

Meh, can't be buggered complaining. Or more precisely, whatever. It's domestic. International WP still get an extra piece and heavy ones regardless of class.

Wasn't there a viral thing going some time ago about the person (QF elite) who got charged for having a bag which fit the 1 x 32 kg criteria but not the 2 x 23 kg criteria?

There were tongs supplied. bah.

I probably should have realised I needed a copy of my academic transcript to complete this application. Oops

Thank goodness I can order an express copy and have someone else pick it up! Or I'd be annoyed :s

Tip for future; Don't complete an application for anything while in the airport lounge 24 hours before applications close! (Although in my defense, I only discovered this position 2 days ago..)

For my institution, you need to allow at least 3 days after ordering an academic transcript. Notice the phrase I emphasised there - not a joke.

There is a fast turnaround option which costs extra and must be picked up in person (someone else can go but they need your written approval and the whole schemozzle); they then take 15 minutes and deliver the transcript over the counter.

Overall, sometimes it's just quicker and just as adequate to give a copy of your online student record ("unofficial transcript"), especially if you don't have any awarded degrees as of yet.

Good luck with the app. Seems like if you get the job, we'll have a vector inside another airline of Australia ;)

I am not crying but I have been saying for a long time that Gold and Platinum will blend together into one status which will be closer to Gold than Platinum. I don't understand why others struggle to see this.

And Platinum One is the new Platinum except for a few extra bells and whistles.

For you users of UKNOVA the site has removed all torrents following a cease and desist notice.
Yes, not happy about that one little bit. All the good cappers from that site will hopefully move to some of the other established trackers - but i'm not holding my breath.

Now who slept with who in order to get that flattery written:?: :)
Someone who obviously earns way too much. Can't say I'd agree with any of that.

Dear god no - that's utterly gross. I was taking a tour of the Parmelia Hilton kitchens last night. Even I had the decency to move away three meters from a pot of red wine jus being cooked and turn away to sneeze onto my sleeve. Using hands on any form of buffet - I don't care what it is - is utterly wrong.

See above. I give you a free pass because most of it was complete BS.

Didn't hear about that one however it sounds like the 'elite pax' was a SG (is SG classed as elite?) who had just got used to the 1 @ 32kg allowance when the goal posts moved.

When the allowance was changed to 2 @ 23kg & you had 1 @
28kg you were slugged a heavy fee of AUD20.00 if the bag weighed between 24 & 32 kg.

If you're a fit and well 20 year old, with a cough and running nose, and the bloke you drunkenly snogged on the weekend has a cold, chances are it's a virus :P (Don't worry, JohnK, I am not accusing you of this! :p)
I haven't been 20 years old for a long long time. ;) As for fit that escaped as well.

Unfortunately I know the difference between virus and bacteria and have been self medicating (with the encouragement of my GP) for a number of years.

I get tonsilitis and pharyngitis regularly so always keep Amoxycillin handy. Thankfully most infections have been streptococcal except this one time where 2 course of Amoxycillin did not work and it ended up being a staphylococcal infection.

I also keep anti-viral medication handy just in case it gets out of control.

Bread roll baskets seem to, more often than you think, be presented without tongs or handling implements, so often one is coerced into picking up a roll with their hands.

I've had first hand (no pun intended) experience at this on a BA CE flight in 2009. Luckily I was served first (seat 1A). When the bread basket was presented in front of me, I actually asked whether I was supposed to just pick one up with my hands, and the crew member said yes. I suppose the etiquette here is, of course, you don't rummage around the basket for a roll, or pick one up and change your mind.

Is your job moving here or are you moving here and hoping to find a job?

I don't know if it is just me or not but I have been here for over 4 years and can't wait to get out of here. It feels like a jail sentence. It is only the money and travel that is keeping me here....

I'm all for clean & safe serving of food however, what we see as passengers is only the tip of the handling iceberg. I think passengers using hands to take food from a plate is the least of our problems!

Hi John
The better half has a job organised and I will be looking I am currently employed in Aviation.
I probably feel the same way here , although it is pretty laid back in Adelaide

Spoken like a true blue Mexican!

After spending 20 years living in Sydney and returning to my home state of QLD.....I can tell you without any doubt NSW/SYD sucks!

Talk about the height of laziness. Just saw a dude with his rollaboard on a luggage trolley.
