Hi John
The better half has a job organised and I will be looking I am currently employed in Aviation.
I probably feel the same way here , although it is pretty laid back in Adelaide
I haven't lived in Adelaide but I guessing Brisbane is a step down.

And I think I know the answer why Sydney and Melbourne and to a lesser extent are up there as the best cities in Australia. European migration in the 40's, 50's and 60's is what made those cities what they are today.

Yes I know Sydney has some sad areas but so has every other city. When mentioning how lovely Queensland and Brisbane are lets not forget the ferrals that live on the outskirts towards the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Caboolture etc. They give their Sydney and Melbourne counterparts a run for their money.

Any of the AFFer's living in Brisbane have advice regarding which suburbs to relocate a family to , contemplating a move from Adelaide up to the sunshine?
I'm a fan of the inner northside. Even got Mr Katie to move to the northside from the southside ... :p

At this stage we may be split working either side of Brisbane ie North and South.

My mum is a southside person and my dad was a northsider. I'm more southside myself. I'd normally recommend around Yeronga (check the flood records), Tarragindi over towards Coorparoo/stone's corner, Bulimba way (flood warning), I like Graceville to just south of the river from Indooroopilly (another flood warning). My dad was a hamilton/ascot boy Grandma when to school at Ascot primary. So I don't mind that area and then over toward Hendra. Lutwyche might be worth a look as it has just had a busway put in (or it's in the process), then maybe sort of the band west of Lutwyche road and east of enoggera road.

But really you do need to drive around a bit a get a feel for the lay of the land and what is comfortable. Having moved from Brisbane to Adelaide, I think they are pretty similar. But I do want to get back to Queensland. The big difference is the drivers. Adelaide drivers are just the pits, they are either extremely pushing or extremely polite. You should get a middle ground with driving in Brisbane.

I probably should have realised I needed a copy of my academic transcript to complete this application. Oops

For my institution, you need to allow at least 3 days after ordering an academic transcript. Notice the phrase I emphasised there - not a joke.

MY main former institution allows me to log in and print it out - even as an alumni, I believe.

I'd say you are wrong there, they are either the same but different or Brisbane is a step up ;) There were certainly many european migrants to Brisbane and Queensland. Almost the entire sugar cane industry is european. Have you got yourself over to the Greek club in South Brisbane/West end or taken in Paniyiri?

Bayside living is the way to go. Wakerley/Manly, good access to the city and airport and sea breezes.

Greg.

There is a fast turnaround option which costs extra and must be picked up in person (someone else can go but they need your written approval and the whole schemozzle); they then take 15 minutes and deliver the transcript over the counter.
Pretty much the same here, $25 express service and it's ready within an hour. I have sent the written, signed authorisation home via fax (from the lounge in PER) so that is sweet.

Overall, sometimes it's just quicker and just as adequate to give a copy of your online student record ("unofficial transcript"), especially if you don't have any awarded degrees as of yet.

Good luck with the app. Seems like if you get the job, we'll have a vector inside another airline of Australia ;)
Didn't want to risk it. It's perfect for me in every way so I am going to make sure I do it properly...

I see the QF baggage allowance for SG has changed yet again - it's now 2 @ 32 kg each which is now the same as what WP's get, unless that has now changed.

Prior to 31 May 2011: unlimited pieces up to a total weight of 33 kg (excess $10.00 per kilo)
Effective 01 Jun 2011: 1 piece @ 32 kg
Sep or Oct 2011: 2 pieces @ 23 kg
29 Aug 2012: 2 pieces @ 32 kg

Extra pieces of excess if paid at airport $30.00 for the first piece & $60.00 per piece after that. A maximum of two extra pieces can be pre-paid online for $20.00 each.

Do I now hear cries of devaluing of WP, no difference now between SG & WP etc etc.

It makes my push towards LTG better actually. Then, I can ditch QF and move everything to AA. Seriously though, why are they making SG and WP so damn similar. If the F lounges weren't so good in MEL and SYD, I would not bother. Whilst the wallet candy is nice, it's not worth the extra money (even with cheap YUPP/KUPP's).

Let's be honest, if I had a cure for the common cold I wouldn't be working in a public hospital, I'd be making millions and living on a beach somewhere![/QUOTE]

isnt the beach every other week at the moment?

Must be a rough town Adelaide, someone kept a Sidewinder missile at home, must have been a curfew lover, I can just hear the cries now "Goose, I have got tone, got tone, taking the shot"!

From the article, a Sidewinder is an ATA missile. How would you launch it from the ground?

Jokes all aside, the rest of the news today is..... intriguing. Speaking of Perth yesterday which brought up universal disagreement, e.g.

Can't say I'd agree with any of that...

...I give you a free pass because most of it was complete BS.

...we now have this story today: Perth named as 'digital boom' capital in Google's eTown Awards | Information, Gadgets, Mobile Phones News & Reviews | News.com.au
IT'S better known as one of the cities sharing Australia's mining boom, but Perth has now been named as the capital of the nation's digital boom.

The Western Australian capital earned top billing in Google's inaugural Australian "eTown Awards", which ranked 600 communities on their online business activities.

And just remember kids, if you really wanted to say, "We should shove Alan Joyce and Leigh Clifford in a chaff bag and throw them out to sea," you can be safe in the knowledge that you won't be censored. After all, Alan Jones can get away with it.

Oh wait, that's old news. The new news is that he's confirmed that females can't lead government for <blank until filled in>.

ALAN JONES: Women are 'destroying the joint' | News.com.au

Have been racking my brain trying to think of a flight sharing website.

You submit your flights, others do the same and it gives you matches etc Links in with TripIt...

Any ideas?
