And I went out for lunch today and came home the owner of a new car.Twenty years and I have finally caved in to Queensland values-have a Hyundai I35 highlander.

Do tell how it goes. Have one of them on the radar as our replacement vehicle...

I am sure she will be fine. Off you go...

Most likely.
We'd probanly find her slumped in her chair after ODing on the kid's channels. Tho as she's gotten older, she's also gotten better at calling it a night. Saw in New Years as a 1&2yo due to parties, but has always retired around 11pm since. Couldn't even keep her up with the promise of "Tangled" lanterns in Chiang Mai this year.

On that note .. Night night!!

Hell! My oldest sits up to 1+am with me watching red dwarf. Sometimes I have to force her to go to bed, accompanied by the "not fair dad"!

Is it Maroon in colour?

Not mind washed that much yet-have only just celebrated my 20 years as a Queenslander even though I did always barrack for them in State of origin as there were always a couple of Bears in the side.

And having only had a test drive I really liked it.Didn't lose much compared to the Audi Q3 and half the price.Mrsdrron wanted to test drive a jeep and the closest jeep dealer doesn't open on the weekends. But the same dealer has Hyundai next door.Got offered several grand off as a demonstator-though only 20Kms on the clock. And as i am looking at a fair spend if i kept the old battered Maxima it sort of was a nobrainer.

Sitting in the Hyundai showroom right now. Looking at an i20 or i30 for Mrs GPH and a new office car for my senior employee (son in law) the bang for buck is much greater with these guys. BUT I also like the look of the Honda offerings. Not the same deal accessories wise. But who knows !?

PS. How nice is the Santa Fe ?

I looked at the Santa Fe when I finally chose a Subaru Outback about 3 years ago. They seemed a good, solid, well fitted car that I would have been happy with had I not kept a certain loyalty to the Suby. A friend bought one about the same time, and has been very happy with it.

YMMV

I have just been through the exercise with a friend and we/she ended up with an IX35 for $29,9900 drive away. The Mazda CX-5 was probably a little better but not $6-7000 better.

The new Sante Fe is really good. Could sway me away from Subaru and/or Mazda.

Which would be good aisle seat in Y on A300-200 (JQ15)?
that would be A330-200 ...

In general I'd go for a B or J aisle seat, although there much of a muchness with the D and G(H?) seats as far as access goes.

Thanks, sefty. Yep, A330-200. I'd selected a D seat as E and F had not been taken. That could change, of course.

This is a new look new design. I heard somewhere that Hyundai lured some guy from Audi to do the design work.
For around $50k it looks and feels like a more expensive vehicle.

I hired an i40 in Europe in December. I have to say I was impressed with it, for the first few days. Then I start to notice small things about my car that I prefer.

I have to be honest, I can't think of any car that can pull me away from German car manufacturers.

There is a certain level of detail, build quality and refinement you can't beat. Having said that, I thought the i40 was an exceptional car for the money!

Tell me more, aside from a brief flirtation with Benz a few years ago ( 380 SEL ) I have largely stuck with Toyota , preferring to drive an SUV or 4WD over the last 20 years.
A fully spec'd up Hyundai as I saw it on the weekend looked the goods, all the bells and whistles , and I am assured a very nice ride, a good looking car with what I suppose would be described as European styling.
To compare to say a Kluger Grande, a saving of about $30k or an Audi Q7 say $50k plus, it seems to me that it would need to pretty shabby and falling apart in 3 years to not be worthy of comparison .

Bloody Apple. First they are making iPhones, then iPods and iPads and now i40's...what next?
