GEERs was not set up in 2001, it's first pilot ran in Nov 2006. Ansett staff were never paid any monies from the special ticket tax as a grant and in fact some are still waiting for payments, the money was instead invested in Aviation security. What money was paid was for up to 8 weeks wages only and was repaid from asset sales.

IIRC, GEERS was set up after brother Stan hit some turbulence....well before 2006.

Scenario: I currently have four large bananas - they are on the edge of overripe, very soft but flesh not yet black; they need to be eaten or cooked right away.

Any suggestions for a good yet easy recipe? My aunt is having a "high tea" (not sure if it's for real) tomorrow; could cook something for that.

Tossing up at the moment between possibly a Banoffee pie, banana curd tart or banana syrup cake (e.g. with passionfruit syrup).

I have a large deep pie dish (oven safe plate) and a round cake tin as well as your stock standard walled square oven tray. I can't find muffin trays, and we don't own tart tins.

One thing I have found in Asia is beer gets warm very quick. I love putting ice in beer to keep it icy cold. ;) And in the theory the ice is supposed to water down the beer as well....

Not sure I'd be drinking ice cubes in Asia unless I knew they came from bottled water....

Glass of full of ice and I control the top up of the beer and if I am slowing down then ask for more ice.

But of course if you are still going to drink way too much alcohol then no amount of watering down is going to help....

That.. is called Alcoholism!

Banoffee pie is always yum and then there's always the good old banana cake!

Yeah I tend to avoid ice generally. Especially bad when you walk into a bar and they have the ice on open display and change and drinks get passed over it.

Let alone how ice is processed in some countries.. dirty pickaxe anyone?

Just one ice cube? How big is your glass? :p

You should see the size of the ice cube!

I wouldn't want to water down the beer too quickly! ;)
I do not see it that way. I love cold beer and try to ensure the ice in the glass is going to be enough to keep the beer cold.

I hardly ever get sick. And I have probably picked up most bacteria by now and build up antibodies for them anyway.

Should our paths cross in Asia then it looks like we will be able to share that glass of ice! :)

I have found that much of the ice is made from filtered/processed water and then bagged and sold to the retailer. Just don't make the mistake of asking for a glass of iced water. Next time I will stick with lemonade.

If you've got too many, bag them and throw them in the freezer.

...and then you need to find out how the water got into the bottle....So you end up needing to audit the whole supply chain of the ice.

or you just have the ice in your drink!

Much easier to have ice in my drink and not worry how it got there.

If you see their lack of hygiene when preparing food, including 5-6 star hotels, and how food can be left out in the heat all day uncovered/not refrigerated then quality of water used in ice is going to be the least of your problems....
