The totally off-topic thread

To get off such a hostile subject, has anyone noticed that we are approaching post # 20,000 on TOTT?
Well done for noticing.

When this thread first started I think AFF had <10,000 posts. Who would have thought it would grow this big?

Wow, I never thought this thread I started would get to these dizzy heights of post numbers. When we first started it I remember thinking it would die a natural death...but it keeps on going

Back on Qantas after 7 VA flights in a row this year.

Sitting in row 4 opposite Chairmans Lounge, meal and a complimentary beer. ;) And I know it is not nice to generalise but a noticeable difference between the lounges with not only what is on offer but the general atmosphere.

My sons are totally impressed with the SQ Changi business class lounge where you get an ice cold gass out of a self service glass doored fridge and the fill it up with Tiger beer. They have never been beer drinkers but they love Icy cold Tiger.

Puts the QF international Business lounge to shame IMHO :)....although I haven't been here for a little while;)

In Australia, the beer is traditionally ice cold, not the glass.

In Singapore, it's both if upmarket / classy, and neither if hawker - then you have the beer with ice.

In China it's neither. If you ask for ice or the beer to be cold, then you're obviously not a native Chinese!

One thing I have found in Asia is beer gets warm very quick. I love putting ice in beer to keep it icy cold. ;) And in the theory the ice is supposed to water down the beer as well....

The amount of dilution is related to the amount of ice you put in. Of course, there are place that keep topping up your beer, which tends to defeat any watering down

Glass of full of ice and I control the top up of the beer and if I am slowing down then ask for more ice.

But of course if you are still going to drink way too much alcohol then no amount of watering down is going to help....

Every forum needs a similar thread, where things are a bit more relaxed.

How many cupcakes (+ slices of cake) is too many in a single day???

Just one ice cube at a time to keep the temperature down does just nicely.

How much it too much? When you run out of course.:D

My retired surgeon friend says if you drink 3 bottles of wine a day for a year you could be making good news for a mortician.
He also told me you have to count white wine in that bottle count.
I wish my kids friends would drink less of the spirits and just drink a bit of beer on a night out. Under 35s really hit the spirits. We drink less and less just to keep our few remaining brain cells functioning.
