I love my MIL - we've taken her on holidays for the past 7 years.

30+ year widow that has lived her whole life for her children. Noela, travelled a little in her years but the past 7 has seen her experience:-

Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, UK, Spain & France.....most of them more than once!

She's getting on now. Moved into a retirement villa last week.....still full of life & loves a drink & unfortunately a smoke.

I feel sorry for all you that want to get away from your MiL's. I've got two and have quite the opposite feeling. They come in useful.

Having more than one MIL can be rather beneficial when attempting to gain lots of quality grandchild-grandparent time (i.e. date night/date weekend away)

For those who know of Al Kooper, he turned 69 yesterday. He's performing tomorrow and Friday at BB King's in NY.

And I am not likely to ever have to worry about a mother in law. Not every man needs to go through life being miserable. ;)

Exactly - they have 5 living grandparents, however my parents are the most accommodating. My mother looked after my daughter every Wed from birth until Prep (excluding holidays at either family unit) - but they are still happy to have weekend sleepovers.

My M-i-L lives at Glasshouse Mountains and comes down fortnightly to see the kids.

My step M-i-L still works so weekend visits after gym are the norm.

All in all, very acceptable

They opened a wine bar at our office today. Decent beverage selection, and people walking around with trays of squid, bruschetta, cheese, etc.

Very yum, and about 60 seconds walk from my desk (on the same floor). We held the Thursday afternoon catch up meeting there today (4-5, but it went an hour overtime) which went very well accompanied by some nice red :)

After waking in some nasty discomfort the other morning I've been diagnosed with a kidney stone. The stone is too small to zap and the urologist advised me i'm going to experience the closest thing to giving birth a male can experience.

All I can say is drink plenty of fluids - and I am not talking beer

I've heard it's bad. But one of my brother in laws just went to the toilet one day and past one, apparently without too much discomfort. But he also takes an angle grinder to his feet, dried heels and cuts out lumps with a kitchen knife and pliers.

Shelf, the only reason I liked your comment was the mental image of the final comment. Notice all the males replying feel sorry and mrs.dr.ron gave the best practical advice :D

May it pass quickly. What are you going to name it?? :o

I haven't officially named it, I have informally referred to it with several names, with (expletive) often being used.

Edit: I do like 'Sharon', I might use that as I'm sure it will generate some laughs.

Oh dear. My brother had one of these. He was very very uncomfortable for a few days. And whomever said drink plenty of water was right, and keep on drinking after it has passed.

I wonder, do they make a noise when they land in the bowl? :)
