How good to see a kid given this great opportunity (I don't know his background) only to have him show up most if not all the seasoned players. We should all be proud of this wonderfull Aussie and I don't even follow the cricket.
I would buy Ashton a beer if I met him in the pub. Well done young man, well done and congrats to his family for raising him to be so humble...... that shrug!

I think the nicest thing about Ashton Agars performance is that he's a kid who is simply passionate about cricket and not in it for the money that is hurled at them these days. Almost like "the old days" ;)

I feel the same about the rugby, almost. 1991 World Cup win by a bunch of amateurs. Who can forget it? Or earlier still the gland slam with Ella and co.

Re: Qantas Lounge Standards

Speaking of which, what is your favourite brand of popcorn?
As a kid I used to love Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs. Do they still exist?

It would appear as though they still do!

Only issue I find with popcorn is getting the kernels stuck in ones teeth. They should sell them with a pack of floss ;)

I had some not so long ago!

We are very partial to microwave cheese flavoured pop corn. On the US air force base I lived we could get sour cream and onion flavoured pop corn....

Yes, I've seen it but as an adult (an older older adult) it is so sweet! Blech!

My husband eats the multi coloured popcorn (he is a real sweet tooth) because he says that way he is eating his greens. ;)

Medhead, you dissed me a few weeks ago about me not knowing the difference between Rugby League and Union. Quite wrongly at the time. But I actually remember that World Cup played in 1991.

I thought my comment was more refined than that, more likely aimed at all south Australians.. Regardless, there is a reason I'm the only member of the arrogant pigs group.

There's a difference?

:p

Yep, 4 players. Oh and apparently punching on is a key part of rugby league, according to the past greats.

First day of the first Ashes Test. Poms all out 215 (Siddle got a Michelle); Aussies are 4/75 (including a golden for Cowan a a normal duck for Clarke).

Some might say the Poms are slightly ahead.
Let's not get fooled by witnessing a piece of history. Fluke? Luck? Who knows.

Australia at 9/117 is the real story and unless this effort by Agar spurs them on to bigger and better things we are in big, actually huge, trouble. :(

There are 4 opening batsmen in the top 6 and another opening batsman was left out. And some might say Agar could well open the 2nd innings....

.

Never underestimate the power of the mind.

Agar won't open. He won't bat below 9 or 10 for a while yet. To do so would be to kill him off.

He has talent but he was an unknown. His weaknesses are yet to be determined but you can bet the poms are trying to work them out as we speak.

I don't know,I am quite sure Moody thinks I am a member of that group.:lol:;)

South Aussies are very familiar with Rugby Union. It's that weird game invented in the eastern states that leaves us cold.

See that gets to the core of my previous comments south Australians don't know rugby union at all. But still turn up to the games in record numbers.

Btw it was invented in old blighty.

Rugby League was invented in old blighty? Really?

Didn't really take off much in the world scene then other than parts of Australia. And Rugby Union is very different to League.

That is 3 times now I have stayed in Holiday Inn Chiang Mai and the third time they have given me a suite.

Same room as last time as well. ;)
