The Velocity Status Run Master thread

OOL may be your best bet.
Just been poking around and I think yes. Don't know what is up with VA fares but they are well higher than Qantas (~20%) on most days I've looked at for the golden triangle & some other routes.

Might wait for the next couple of happy hours to pass before I decide. Could do something wacky and fly on an Elevate to MQL then take the V/Line services back to Melbourne.

I place VA in a similar bucket as Uber. They can represent good value, but can also be hugely more than the alternates.
Like Uber, it pays to know the regular cost of a route and if the value is there, grab it ... otherwise go with the competition.

I'm finding a lot of cheap flights (A$1,300) PEK > BOS with 1 stop over or 2 stop overs but very long (8 hours plus) any advice? I'm trying to book MID/Late May to MID/Late June return.

I found some flights from PVG to BOS with decent stop overs.

Ok brains trust here's the issue: I shoogled my family pooling mid 2018 to take advantage of my sister going to a conference in Antwerp to ensure I re-qualified Gold with a bit of leeway (legit too, she was living with us at the time) but like the idiot that I am, I assumed I swapped the pool back to Lady Lenny prior to our Beijing trip before Christmas...clearly I forgot to do that.

So I've gone from needing to earn 70 credits to needing 220 credits by August in order to lock in Gold for our next overseas trip in October. Any ideas for status runs that could get me there ex SYD, staying domestic??

I can probably bank 60 with our winter trip to Melbourne and there's a very slight chance that I could see a work funded International trip into Asia this year, but no guarantees it would be VA/SQ/EY.

Any suggestions??

How many trips and flying solo or with wife?

Ideally as few trips as possible (multi-leg??) and flying solo.
Can’t see you getting away with anything under about $1600 for 220SC’s.
Personally I’d do SYD-BNE-CNS return in J which can be done in a day. A return trip in J saver using the promo code will cost around $1600 and net you 220SC’s exactly.

This one will get you 110 SCs for $682 ($6.2 per SC):

This will get you 100 SCs for $610 ($6.1 per SC):

As above, you probably could upgrade to speed up your SC earn but it will reduce the $ to SC value.

Has anyone tried the 5th Freedom Melbourne-Wellington flight with SQ? Seems business return is possible with many date possibilities for 160 SC (I think) @$1100. Not a bad city to visit for a weekend either.

Lot of status credits to be earned flying SYD to DPS return via BNE either in J or flexi Y. I think i booked in at $5 per SC for early July this year

Thanks all - @Milefest the Launceston one looks quite do-able I'll bear it in mind. FWIW after talking to Velocity they have offered to extend my status another 12mths, I've requested a bit more clarification but that should do it, I'll re-qual again based on our October Europe trip.

May only need one of those options, I can probably talk Lady Lenny into a random Melbourne or Brisbane weekend in addition to our planned one :)

Hi all after a bit of advice. To maintain Gold by mid Feb I have to earn 55status credits.
I can fly from Townsville or (more of a stretch but manageable so long as it’s not a very late returning flight) Cairns.
I found a flight Townsville to Sydney via Brisbane traveling elevate for $505 (60 status credits) is this about as cheap as I am going to get something? Anyone have any other ideas?
It can be just one person flying or two as my husband pools his points with mine.
Thanks for any suggestions

CNS-BNE in Freedom return will earn you 60. Probably closer to $600, but less flying and very easy within same day. With a Promo Code from the Promo Code thread, it could be cheaper if you can book 20 days in advance (might be pushing it for mid Feb now). TSV-BNE is Zone 1 (692 miles), whereas CNS-BNE or CNS-SYD falls into Zone 2, so more SCs.

From TSV, that sounds pretty good. It sounds a bit like you live between TSV and CNS but closer to TSV (Ingham??) so I'd go with that one. That CNS drive would put a damper on @kevrosmith's suggestion I'd think unless you were perhaps nearer half way between both (Cardwell/Tully/Mission Beach??).

Any advice on the cheapest way to earn 80 status credits ex MEL?
Freedom fare MEL-SYD-OOL-MEL or MEL-OOL-SYD-MEL costs $540 with 10% discount and earns 80 SC.

Go via SYD both ways for an extra $20 and earn 100 SCs.
