Hey guys, I was just wondering ... is there any difference in SC if I book through SQ or with VA?

For example, I'm flying Brisbane --> SG --> Vietnam. I booked it through SQ but should get the right credit on VA right?

I'm just a bit worried since it's through SQ, Virgin won't acknowledge the SCs D:

You will earn VA status credits when flying SQ metal and code as per this table:

IME they are the same, though more experienced flyers may have noticed differences.

Just a quick couple questions guys. I signed up to velocity at the end of Feb this year. I’m silver at the moment sitting on around 290 credits. To my understanding the credits I earned when I flew to Cairns in March this year will expire the same time next year. Now I’m wondering, to upgrade to gold, do I need an additional 210 credits before March next year when they start to expire or do I now need an additional 500 credits which is required for gold? I’ve also already satisfied the 4 sectors. I was pretty sure I only need the 210 credits to move up to gold but I spoke to someone who said an additional 500 credits is required on top of the 250 required for silver. Sounds silly and trivial I suppose but it got my curiosity.

You are correct, you only need another 210 SCs to reach Gold. Status works on the total number of SCs earned throughout the year, not an individual total required to upgrade to the next level - so 250 SCs gets Silver, earn some more SCs and hit 500, then you get Gold, make it to 1000 and you get Platinum (as long as you meet the eligible sector requirements of course, and reach the required number of SCs for each level before previously earned SCs start to expire).

You would be Gold for a year after hitting the target and would need to earn another 400 in the following year to requal. If you didn't requal you would stay Silver for the following year (a "soft landing")

Nathant123 - Although SCs expire after 12 months, your actual review date is the date you change status levels - for example, you didn't mention when it was you achieved Silver, so let's say that was in June, so your review date would be June 2017. If you achieve Gold status in February 2017, your review date will then become February 2018, so you would have until (whatever date in) that month to achieve the required 400 SCS to requalify for Gold.

You can probably get MEL-SYD-CFS-SYD-MEL flexi for sub $600 for 80 SCs.

Or Flexi MEL-xSYD-OOL rt for about $570.

Use cfq29 to get it to ~$520.

yes greenfish, my wife and I have travelled twice with Singapore Air, once booked through Singapore Air directly, the other through the Aussie virgin site. Both were Flexi saver fares, but the Singapore booking gave full SCs, the Virgin booking gave half reduced SCs. More careful now with my bookings.

Interesting... personally I see this as being a good thing. I guess the new prices will determine the value of the extra SC's.

Looked at SYD-BNE - the standard price for Getaway fares seemed to be $149 (for 5SC), with Elevate being $179 (for 15SC). I guess when there are no specials there will be minimal ($20-30) difference), however once the big discounts come in, it will become a more marked difference.

They might treat Elevate like Flexis where they never get sales. Elevate's offering is relatively niche and the customers that buy them would be buying them regardless of a sale. Your best bet is applying a coupon currently..

OK I think, my last two trips were as follows, both in Y.
HBA-MEL-SIN_KIX return for mr and mrs Tassieoptom generated 570SC @ 3.94/SC
HBA-MEL-SIN-CDG return for me will generate 320SC @ 6.60/SC

Anything below 5.5 isn't bad. A really good SC run would be $3/SC or lower, they're easier to find in the US (but you have to get there first).

In the states I'm flying LAX - JFK @ 6.5 AUD/SC

However, when I fly Washington DC to Orlando via Atlanta it will be about 2.6 AUD/SC assuming we get comp upgrade to C+
