The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Hello everyone,

I'm thinking about taking grandma to the airport. She's flying with SG airline. I was wondering if I can use my gold benefits to check her in in the priority lane etc and entering Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge? if i'm not flying?

Thanks!
I think priority check-in would be unlikely. And if you are not flying you won't be to get airside - i.e. no lounge access.

I've checked my Mother in at the priority lane but that was flying VA, and at OOL so no huge lines. What I have done for her at other airports is purchase a pass at one of the pay lounges

Dang it. Wonder if they'll just qual me on 490SC?

It's happened in the past, but VA is now a different airline than in the past. I doubt you'll gain gold off 490 at a time that they're cutting SC earn on the most popular flights and adjusting how they view lounge use.

Probably Brisbane to either BDB, ROK, MKY or NTL - Bundy is showing as $119, Rocky is $111 on 3/11 or 7/11, Mackay is $129 and Newcastle is $125 on 2/11, 3/11 or 6/11.

Gold Coast-Sydney is $79 on 3/11 (last flight of day though), $99 on 2/11 & 4/11, $105 on 5/11 - perhaps getting a cheap fare with Tiger/JQ on the return leg (or the down leg, with return with VA) is the best bet there?

You just missed an OOL-SYD happy hour which was cheap.
However Happy Hour probably wouldn't fit the dates required.

not worth the risk for a $120 flight tbh, I would just find 10 SC's. Or spend $1000 at Coles :)

Thanks to those who replied!
For those interested, they upgraded me to Gold as of today... so the 490SC was enough this time!

any tips for best way to earn 80 SC by 15 Jan?

Doing family pooling to the missus and she's going to be about 80 short to gold! so close!

Lol not sure its $1200 badly :( was hoping for $700 badly haha

Naw. Jump in the car and take a drive to OOL. Freedom with a promo, OOL-SYD are $398 return. $800 is closer to your target than $1200! Getaways are available from $79 each way, but they're not so common. If you go searching, you might find 4 returns that'd bring you in under the $700 (but I doubt it). Remember Getaway will give 10SCs per leg (OOL-SYD) until 30/1.

I've used OOL > MEL previously on a status run (routed via Sydney). Freedom fare with a discount code is $260 for 40 SC each way. So you can get your 80 SC for just over $500 return.
