The Velocity Status Run Master thread

bgough, you need to simply check out this page: https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Status/HowItWorks/

see the section below and in particular the red highlighted line:

Maintain your level of membership

Once you upgrade to a higher level of membership, you will have 12 months, from the day of your upgrade to your new Review Date, to achieve the required number of Status Credits and Eligible Sectors to maintain your membership.

The table shows the number of Status Credits and Eligible Sectors you need to earn within your 12 month benefit period to maintain your membership:

So, I went gold on 5 Dec 16. I need 400 SCs to maintain gold by 5 Dec 17.

I am doing a bit of flying, but there's a chance I might only hit 350 by this date. This means I drop to Silver, right?

However I have an overseas family trip (to Europe, 3 others all pooling SCs to me) in Feb 18.

So, if I miss gold in Dec, having earned 350 between Dec 5 16 and Dec 5 17, then get 200 more in Feb 18, meaning I've earned 510 in the last year, will I drop to Silver in Dec and Jan then go back to Gold when I do the big trip in Feb?

Hi all, I need 190 points by September - I don't need to cram in as many flights in a day as I can, I'm just looking for the best run in terms of $$, and as I can combine trips from Sydney to Canberra or Perth with work commitments I can write the fares off on tax. Any suggestions?

I need to get 54 SC before 6th of April to get to gold and I am 2 flight sector short as well, can anyone recommend a cheap status run? It can either be for 1 person or 2 (family pooling). I am based in Melbourne.

MEL-CBR-OOL + return = 60sc from memory for about $300-330

Hi All, First post so please excuse my ignorance. I have some time free in the next couple of months and I would like to get my SC's built up a little. Easiest way to get around 100 SC's at a relatively good SC per $? Preferably domestic, but I guess I could head over to NZ or something like that if that's work better.

Any help would be appreciated!

Any guidance on a quick same day run from SYD to get 70-80 SC?

SYD > OOL return, full business one way, freedom return (or vice versa) $694.96 using CLX79

see screengrab, earn is 80SC. (55 for J 25 for Y)

Good morning all,
I am about to book flights to Europe as a VA Gold. I would like to make the most of this trip re the flight sectors flown and the SC's. Obviously I am also trying not to spent too much but we can all agree that its a bit of a game we like to play and play well.

So I am looking at flights from BNE to AMS or BNE to DUS (these could also leave from OOL as I live on the GC). Dates: leave 18/9, return 29/9. I would prefer to fly with SQ but I have noticed that the Etihad flights are ridiculously cheap ATM.
It still seems to be very confusing on which class gives you how many SC's and or points so I was wondering whether somebody here could give me a push in the right direction (SQ or Etihad and which fare).

My last trip to Tokyo was a little bit of a disaster, I thought I had done the right thing (flying SQ full fare economy) but it turned out to be discount economy through Virgin (I know...). This meant half the SC's but luckily when I called them, they extended my VA Gold till with another year.

Looking forward to your advice and possible routes!
Thank you for your help! Much appreciated!

Hi guys. Currently planning my holiday which is coming up at the end of the year. Flying with my brother SYD - DAR (via AUH), DAR - JNB, JNB - CPT, CPT - JNB, JNB - SYD (via AUH inc. 4 night stop in Dubai). Flights are mostly with Etihad and some with South African Airways. I already have family pooling set up with my brother for domestic travel but I wasn't sure if I will still collect his points and credits for international flights with partner airlines? The second part (CPT - JNB) onwards will be business class flying back to SYD.

If you are eligible for family pooling and register for points and SC'S then that will happen irrespective of international / domestic travel.

Do they let you upgrade flights for trips occuring after your membership tier expire? (for example, say plat expire in June and I want to upgrade a trip due in Dec)

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Hey everyone,

So I'm currently Silver at 312 SC, needing 188 SC + 4 sectors before 26th Aug 2017 to qualify for Gold. I'm planning a return trip from Perth to New York (PER - MEL - LAX - JFK) mainly on VA flight numbers to get the 4 sectors. This trip will conclude before 26th Aug where my current SCs start expiring.

What I understand is that my planned trip should get me 80 SCs each way for 160 total. This leaves me 28 SC short. Anyone know the cheapest way to pickup this seemingly low amount of status credits? As I understand, Points + Pay tickets wont earn SCs, correct?

I could also fly around in the US for credits as I'll have a lot of free time. Will it be cheaper there?

Thanks.

Edit: I found return flights for JFK - BOS for AUD$118 which nets 10 SCs each way for 20 total. That would leave me 8 SC short. I read before that someone else qualified for gold at 490 SC. Does VA do this often?

Just grab those JFK>BOS flights in comfort+ which books into W class which nets 30SC each way. The. You'll easily get over the line, and C+ isn't much more $.

Also consider first class Delta JFK>BOS as sometimes it's not much more either, and that'll get you 40SC each way.

As you can see, delta domestic is a great way to earn SC. Could even shoot for Plat if you're keen.
