The Velocity Status Run Master thread

170 status credits by end of July..... fastest way leaving Melbourne and return?
I'd look to book a business class return flight from Melbourne to somewhere in SE Queensland (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast) with at least one of the legs via Sydney or Canberra. A direct flight will give you 80 SCs (160 return), which is why you'll need to connect on one of the legs to get you to the 170.

Are you looking to re-qualify for status, or qualify for the first time? If you're qualifying for the first time, Virgin routinely gifts you the status when you have 98% of the SC's (so to qualify for Platinum you need 980 SC's, to qualify for Gold you need 490 etc).

8 sectors done just need 170 status by end of July.... so far $800 in flight costs when with suggestions 😡

That's $4.70 per SC ... outside of a double SC promotion, you're not going to do much better than that, unless you get lucky and find a $349 Business fare to the Gold Coast or Brissy ($4.36 per SC).

So thanks to a 250 credit bonus i wasn't expecting, i'm not terribly far from Gold for the first time (If i pool with my partner). My total starts to drop a little over the next few months but i'm looking for about 80-100 credits out of BNE. I don't know if i really fly that much to get enough out of Gold, so i'm not really just i want to go overkill on cost, Ideally i'm wanting to start and end in BNE. I've looked through the past few pages and have seen some alright deals, but they wouldn't be my ideal choice considering i'd have other flights to connect to them first.

Am i hoping for to much here? Open to any other ideas!

BNE-SYD return J?

For those trying to get the J $349 seats OOL - MEL (80 SC), it's for the first 4 seats in J, after that, you won't see them at this price point.
Don't forget to use discount code ZXW75 to get these seats down to $326.08 (or your Business Flyer account for discounted J at $329.42).
Good luck racking up those SC's :)

Just for clarification, does your Gold expire end of July or you would have (without further travel) 830SC earned in the previous 365 days to the specific date "end of July".

I ask this as Qualification criteria (SG to WP) is different from Re-Qualification (SG to SG).

Suggestions for 80 status credits that can be doubled.... leaving today or tomorrow from Melbourne return?
So need 160 status...
CHEAPEST FLIGHTS..... eg. Melb-Syd-Gold Coast return Flex fare $600

Have to have status credits 72 hours by 31st July.

Can discount code ZXW75 be used or is it 7 days in advance only?

I looked on the VA website using the promo code ZXW75.

Cheapest J - MEL-SYD--OOL, will net 110SC one way, so 220 for you as DSC. for $665 (after discount)

The fare basis comes to CZBU1/CO, so definitely books into the highest fare class in J

Return - you can do a direct OOL-MEL using points or a cheapo Y fare

Edit : goes without saying, there is a DSC promo on VA from today till 03/08. Please register before making the booking :)

Any suggestions on the cheapest way to get 300 SC (ex-SYD preferably) and with current DSCpromo, I will get 600?
Welcome to AFF, @Bri

Re : your query on DSC - do you have any trips coming up that you can book & travel during the promo period? OR are you solely flying for the purposes of utilising DSC to get to a status level?

If you have travel lined up (work or otherwise) then DSC promo period is the best time to get all the bookings done and enjoy the status.

Hi - thanks for replying. It is solely to get credits for a status run.
