The Alpine Rally is for older 2 wheel drive cars, but this front wheel drive Magna should not be this fast.




Got talking to a person that was viewing her first rally. She conducts trips to Africa, have a look at her site, the photos are fabulous, so envious, of both her ability and her tours!

Righto, home again 37h from departure, 1772km (822 yesterday, 950 today).

So, just to explain why.

Schematically, here's the route:



There were multiple reasons for the trip:

I wanted to give the new vehicle a solid run on dirt before it goes in on Friday for its first service (really an inspection at 3-5K km).

My son has a business currently with two locations either side of Lake Barlee. The main one is on the E side, with a secondary operation on the W side. There is no way of driving directly between them.

He wanted to get some light gear from Perth to both operations, so I took it. First to the main camp yesterday, where I overnighted, and then to the sub-camp today.

Two avians deceased with the one run - and a bit of looking around the office.

There you have it.
