The view from my "office"

Righto, home again 37h from departure, 1772km (822 yesterday, 950 today).

So, just to explain why.

Schematically, here's the route:

There were multiple reasons for the trip:

I wanted to give the new vehicle a solid run on dirt before it goes in on Friday for its first service (really an inspection at 3-5K km).

My son has a business currently with two locations either side of Lake Barlee. The main one is on the E side, with a secondary operation on the W side. There is no way of driving directly between them.

He wanted to get some light gear from Perth to both operations, so I took it. First to the main camp yesterday, where I overnighted, and then to the sub-camp today.

Two avians deceased with the one run - and a bit of looking around the office.

There you have it. :)
How are you finding the new Everest? I bought mine a few months before the new model arrived!

Very good. Not markedly different from the previous; perhaps a little more planted with the slightly wider track and longer wheelbase. The suspension has been tweaked - it lands and settles a little more smoothly after flying over cattle grids at 120kph. 😜

It's a Trend with the 2.0L Bi-turbo. I put in an EOI for it in November last year when the 'New-Gen' was publicised.

My previous vehicle was a 2020 Trend, also with that engine. I had done 82K clicks in exactly 2.5 years, over plenty of territory like the last couple of days, and it had not missed a beat. Long-term fuel consumption was c. 8.5L/100km.

So far, with 4K clicks on the clock, this one is showing 9.6L/100km. Hopefully that will improve with time. Otherwise, it's a fair shortening of range from a tank.

LAX QF F lounge. After 7 weeks abroad, looking forward to getting home.

Sure looks like it. Are you here now. We should be up there around 1730 for a couple of drinks before dinner at Summer Palace.

I was there for 2 nights until last Sunday. I wanted to try the Summer Palace, even for dim sum, but was talked out of it by my SIN based friends. I offered to pay but I got the "It won't be worth it" ... etc.
