The view from my "office"

We have just spent the weekend down south at a farmstay near Margaret River.

From a purely anecdotal point of view there seemed to be a large numbers of overseas tourists down there. At every 'scenic spot' there were people speaking in 'foreign' languages - from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, India and Europe, Also lots of hire cars. At some spots there were more non-English speakers than English speakers. At various restaurants, cafes etc there were also lots of foreign staff, maybe backpackers, from Argentina, France, the US and a couple of others from elsewhere. Of course being Margaret River and surrounds they may well now be locals.

After 3 weeks away, it's always good to be home. Madness, a random person tapped Mrs FB on the shoulder at baggage reclaim.. they worked together 20 years ago! She lives in New Malden but originally from Bulgaria, ha.

Sipping some Bulgarian wine whilst Mrs FB cuts the grass (I'm not allowed apparently...).

A few days in Lisbon. We picked up our daughter and two grandchildren from Lisbon airport on Thursday evening. They are joining us for two weeks.

We were a bit early on Thursday afternoon to meet our AirB&B host and found this kiosk in a little park just around the corner. We have been back here every morning for coffee and every afternoon after sightseeing for beer or wine.

The São Justa Elevator has become such a tourist attraction that the queue waiting to go up is very long. 69ED5871-D357-4346-B7C6-E73053BF1100.jpeg

We rode a funicular up to the higher area and went down on the elevator instead. 94B20BAE-D500-40DB-BD86-F4910BE3ABB7.jpeg

The observation deck on top of the elevator was closed for maintenance, but the views were still amazing.

I must admit I found walking on the wavy square a bit disconcerting. I did like Lisbon

Still in the South West

Canal Rocks. The footbridge bridge was replaced after being washed away in a 2020 storm.

Our farmstay cottage a few km north of Margaret River. It could sleep 8.

The owners had raised a joey after it was orphaned. It has been released back into the bush but still likes to visit to nibble on the green grass, get some treats and have its back scratched.

Yesterdays offices consisted of the usual aluminum tubes to/from Canberra. Only took early morning photos:

Heading out to my flight, a beautiful shot ensued and had to take it:

I played Laem Chabang many times before my daughter was born. It's a lovely golf course and it was great to play the Valley course and Lakes course again after so many years. Jack loves water and sand because he knows how to stay out of them.
