The view from my "office"

re: The view from my "office"

Thanks for sharing Steady.. Hope you stay safe.
We are heading to Castlemaine past the grass fires in Kyneton.. It is interesting how many news items I first hear about on AFF!

I'm ok where I am at the moment - fingers crossed it stays that way

Here comes the sun, and I say, it's all right..... (you only have 3km to go....) Location = home.

Pleasant summer's night listening to some cool music (think Eagles (quite an emphasis on this, given this week's news), Neil Young, Crosby/Stills etc) by some very good musos at the Quarry Amphitheatre, a small 550-seat venue developed from an old limestone quarry within a large natural bushland park in PER's W suburbs.

A group of very cheerful Chinese at the beach. According to my secretary the sign says:

School alumni (at Uni in 1983) reunion when they are 50 years old for today' surfing or whatever activity they are for today.

Will show my age, I've ridden behind a steam loco over the old bridge in the foreground.

Matt

I moved to the area in 1961, so had many trips across that old bridge as a youngster before it was replaced by the two-track bridge in 1972. I remember waiting behind a 32Class for our turn to cross on what was a unique bridge, and the great sound of the loco bouncing of the walls of the cutting as it climbed the steep grade towards Sutherland.

Rather than use points to cross on to a single line on the old bridge, they had a blended system of overlapping rails known as a gauntlet track, so that there were no points. There were 4 rails, but they were interwoven so that the bridge appeared to be a single track.

These days I often walk across it to Oatley for a bit of exercise, and then back to Como Marina for a coffee - and occasionally I see a CFCLA loco on a freight train on the new bridge.
