The view from my "office"

Afternoon walk office view included spotting this tawny frogmouth.

At first I thought it was injured, but it had spread its wings and appeared to be sunning itself.

What I assume is its partner was on the branch above keeping close watch.

Shorncliffe, Queensland.

Update: By the end of my walk they were back together.

Last day of holidays, back to work tomorrow to pay for more holidays!! The Nut's have a tradition of sorts where whoever's last day of holidays (sometimes we don't quite align) gets to pick a lunch venue and the other drives. My lunch pick today: Gundaroo Inn (Est 1872) which is about a 25 min drive from North Canberra. Sorry no meal pics, dived in on arrival. Had the beef curry lunch special, popcorn chicken and bruschetta - all very good and very generous.

Not sure about the story behind the croc skull. IMG_20250112_131443829_HDR_AE.jpg
Definitely heading back for lunch..

No pics allowed inside this office,

I loath places where this happens - especially where a fee to enter is already charged. I can understand if flash may not be welcome with delicate parchments, but in most cases I think its merely to encourage purchase of cards etc.

100% - especially if there is a book you can buy with photos or you can find numerous images in the public domain

Dinner at Penny Blue at the new Marriott in Adelaide. Not cheap but the food was excellent and they have kept some of the things that give it a great atmosphere. Forgot to take photos of all the food.

Growing up we had 3 within cooee, great memories. North Ryde, Skyline and Warriewood.
The Nightcliff Drive-in, Darwin. Closed in 1985, the memories. The fun and entertainment was the drive-in itself, not the movie! "I do not have a couple of mates in the boot of my XD Falcon" Mr Attendant.

Out of my comfort zone today, taking a train trip to the big smoke for a VCAT compulsory conference
