The view from my "office"

re: The view from my "office"

Not be a pretty sight! Start of Nov and de-icing? - is this normal?

For this time of year? Sure. I was here in September and we had a 'northern storm' come through for 3 days, snow, sleet, freezing rain ... Fortunately Calgary is pretty well set up for this type of thing. It's Vancouver, where "we never have a snow problem" which comes to a screeching halt at the sight of the first few flakes!

Gurnee. OUCH

tellmeaboutit. Fortunately it's Winnipeg Vs Chicago hockey on the TV at the Irish Pub.

I do miss Great America. Would you have had a look around Gurnee Mills as well?

I wondered what it was. I just came up I94, in the dark; I'm in Grand Avenue. - very close!

I guess Gurnee Mills is a mall. I have a car and do need to buy some shirts!

It's one of the largest outlet malls in the Chicagoland area.

Calgary airport, Sunday morning, quick biz trip to ORD. No lounge. Not terribly happy, Jan.

(On the other hand, the US immigration guy said, when about to take my photo, "look into the camera and say 'I hate Fosters' " :)

Then when he had finished and I began to walk away, saying 'Thank-you' he replied (in his best Aussie accent) 'No worries - mate' )

I had a similar encounter with an Immigration guy who said "I've got a bone to pick with you Aussies - the ads say Fosters is Australian for beer" etc etc and something to the effect that he has yet to meet an Australian who drinks it. My answer was something like "correct, nobody drinks that cough".

Love the Mills Outlet Shopping !! If you need shirts - the Brooks Brothers shirts are great - wash and wear - no ironing !!

That'll be Celebrity Solstice, just back from 8 days South Pacific. We had a booking but cancelled and then discovered that our next door neighbours were on this itinerary. Was talking to them near the lift this afternoon; apparently the ship was chock-a-block!
Glad we didn't go, now.

Celebrity always easily recognised by the X on the funnel.

And a beautiful class of ships she is. We love her little sister Equinox.

Yes.

I see its a "Simone Centre" - the same as Grapevine Mills (Dallas), the other Mall I visited earlier this year at the suggestion of AFF :). And besides the sign, you could tell because its built of the same cheap(-ish) corrugated tin stuff, with the shops essentially just a façade and fit-out inside the shell. Makes for lower rents I guess, and better prices inside.

Hmm, not a nice view. Lady from massage parlour nearby out and about in the chenille dressing gown mid morning. Must be a quiet time. And yes, a bag of rubbish dumped into the dump bin.
