The view from my "office"

So it ought to for a billion bucks :p. The same can't be said about the footbridge (one stranded foundation showing in the right background of the top pic).

A billion and a half isn't it? But who's counting. I was a bit bemused when I learned the cost the same day as I heard WA's complaint again about GST funding. :p <ducks>

Chihuly? The Glasshouse in Seattle is fabulous, if you havent already seen it.

Its on my bucket list. First saw his exhibition in Kew Gardens about 10 years ago and he's got a display in the New York gardens this year that is love to see.

The fabulous new hotel Macq 1 on Hobart docks, will be my office for dinner tonight.

Fun fact - the building is entirely clad in timber; gorgeous. 'Tasmania' (or rather, certain politicians) has so decimated its own timber industry that the timber had to be brought in from Victoria. Way to go!

Unfortunately the one in the V&A hasn't been cleaned since it was put up there so it loses some of its luster.
IMHO it's worth a special trip to Seattle to see the Chihuly exhibition out next to the Sky Tower if it's still there. Simply stunning. Some examples

And in the glass garden, a simply magnificent glass tree. (Which had birds nesting in it when we were there!).

Which area is the office in when you are in Tokyo? About 2 and a half weeks till we are there.

Mecure Ginza until Sunday, then back to cold Canberra. Warmer, much more humidity than I expected and a few rainy spells, sounds like Melbourne! Already looking forward a return visit.
Where apart from Sapporo are you visiting?

No Sapporo this time (that will be in February for the Ice Festival). We have a few days in Tokyo, then Takayama, Kanazawa and Hakone. Only away 10 or so days so just a quick trip. I love Nara but find that Kyoto has become incredibly busy and it's not the easiest of places to get around if you have limited time. Having been to both of those places a couple of times already they got dropped from this trip but would love to go back to that area.
Prepare for chilly Canberra - they are predicting -6 over the weekend

I will get there but not this trip. It's funny but as I was looking at the one in the V&A the other day I was thinking it's about time it had a good dust.

This was in a London Park a few years ago
