The view from my "office"

Where in PNG is that?
Sorry, I should have said. That is the aviation part of the recently revamped National Museum and Art Gallery in Port Moresby. I can definitely recommend a visit. Here's some of the non-aviation ...

Ornately decorated outrigger canoe.

These are possibly the most bizarre things I've ever seen. Wood carvings of people in states of decompositon! The one on the far right has a dolphin eating the organs. The story goes that some of this regions ancestors were chased into the sea by enemies. They then turned into dolphins and ate those enemies!

Various totems, masks, shields and drums.

Many carvings and figures.

Plus lots of intricate headdresses.

And some modern day carvers.

In all, don't come here thinking it's a 5 minute visit type of place. There are many, many stories to fascinate for hours, all for a paltry K10 (AU$4.20) entry fee!

All I know, is that I clearly wasn't the inspiration for the work!

We went for a morning walk today. About 6 km's upriver from the Kent St Weir on the Canning River in Maddington. About 15km from the Perth GPO.

The Canning River is a mighty torrent here.

There is about 2 hectares of an old orange orchard left among the 'Over 55' units bordering the flood plain.

In the remnants was an impressive patch of Prickly Pear.

I used to walk my late, lamented Beagle around here occasionally. I took a couple of the fruit home a few years ago and they were delicious. However it took me a few days to get all the spikes out of my hands. I didn't have gloves etc so I wasn't going to touch these. As you can see there were also ancient grape vines, olive trees etc there.

Last few days, I've posted a few "office" views. This afternoon and tonights is not so wonderful. One of my guys is not well so it's now the emergency room office! I try to stay clear of these places. :(

A different kind of office atm. Base plate for a column in my workshop has rusted out.
Quite interesting cutting up rotten steel with the concrete substrate exploding from the heat.
I find little jobs like this interesting and quite therapeutic...To9haT4UQQq4LWAPS7DOlQ.jpg oVYoU%X5SVOCLwEUFkuZBQ.jpg

Nice weather in Auckland yesterday but the road works in the city are a nightmare.

I agree. We spent 5 days in Auckland in February, and with the road works ( they are digging up and putting in an underground railway !) and those stupid Lime scooters whizzing past you on the footpath, and people walking 5 and 6 abreast on the footpath ( were is the old keep left ?) it was a nightmare walking around the CBD !!! I did read in the newspaper when we were in Hamilton that Auckland has banned the Lime scooters because of all the accidents they caused. Good move !

But then I thought they decided to allow them again. Must say I didn’t see any though.

Spending a few days in Singapore while traveling back from a family wedding in Sri Lanka. Decided to check out somewhere cool.

Luang Prabang office. Booked a hire car for tomorrow and off up north to Luang Namtha and Nong Khiaw before returning here for another 4 days. Driving here should be interesting!
