Different scenery then a Dash 8-400 at Longreach this arvo.
737 Oodnadatta VH-VXI flew in from Sydney, didn't have many passengers onboard.
Word was the passengers flew in to make a Qantas advert???
Used the historical motorised stairs from the museum.

Departed before our Dash 8 landed and headed to Melbourne according to Flight Radar.

Photos taken inside Longreach Departure Lounge, hence the UFO's (lounge lights) in the blue sky.

Bukhara, Uzbekistan tonight. Total contrast to Ashgabat in Turkmenistan. So buzzy.

Ashgabat, quite simply, is a Potemkin Village - and that was repeated on a less overt scale across other places in Turkmenistan. Well worth the visit, but just no life or soul. There is also basically no service culture so, as @RooFlyer has pointed out, restaurant service for a group is shambolic.

(An interesting factoid about Turkmenistan: in the Soviet era the populace was brainwashed by the Russians to believe that Russian was the universal language around the world. There have been a few encounters where a local has regarded it as strange that Australians speak English and no Russian at all!)

There has been a fire in the peat wetlands near PQQ airport-has been smouldering away for around 5 weeks. Some days the wind has carried the smoke & some mornings it has been trapped. This was yesterday morning-we are about 9km from airport by road
