The view from my "office"

We had a chat with these two people when we were on our ride this morning. They wanted to know if we had any friends who couldn't ride a bike anymore. It is an attempt, new to me, to get people with restricted mobility out into the open air. The bikes have an electric motor to make it a bit easier for the volunteers. There are two points near us the Canning River that they are currently using - for the locals Riverton Bridge and Kent St Weir.

This turned up outside the home office a couple of days ago..... not your conventional cruise ship, and one probably of more interest to Taswegians.

This sleek looking unit is the MV Liekut, a brand-new (launched 2020) roll-on roll-off cargo ship that has been leased by SeaRoad Tasmania for three years to ply the Melbourne - Devonport run. It will replace the SeaRoad Tamar seen skulking away towards Tasmania in the background.

Today (Sunday) it's been turned around, showing off its SeaRoad insignia on its side (I guess it's easier to apply from the pier-side). Behind it is the MV Sycamore, a Royal Australian Navy training ship that arrived on Friday. Whilst not cruise ships, it's good to see some maritime activity at Station Pier.

About the only bit of cheer you get around here at the moment, the view from my office riding home from the supermarket (about as exciting as it gets these days) ....... but hey, from tomorrow we can meet with up to 6 people outside and then hopefully, self-contained (only) accommodation holidays from April 12 ........ close..... so close.........

Then I saw this guy and thought this might be as close as I get to anything remotely West Australian. He obviously knew it too as I was able to walk right up to him.

My office for the next 6h50m starts here. No, not the Kremlin, but East Perth station. I’m taking the Prospector train to Kalgoorlie and will drive back to PER tomorrow with my son for the start of his break and in the new LandCruiser he’s taking delivery of tomorrow morning.
