Ah but you can't get fish brotchen from quayside boats in Schwerin - I don't think so anyway. Noranyway can you walk the streets at night and wonder if Nosferatu is still prowling around.

As always you have to make a choice with limited time in a country - sometimes you choose right and sometimes not. But I actually did really enjoy Wismar so it worked out ok.

I couldn't see any name on the aircraft, except "Royal Australia Air Force" and the 100 years of RAAF logo. The thing was, the plane approached very very close to Gate 10 and it looked humongous! Like, everyone at that side of the airport were simply awe struck ... It then took a turn near Gate 14 .. nice sight to see

It doesn't look like A39-007 the VIP transport, which the former Prime Minister reserved for his own use. Talking with RAAF-ies I know, I don't think that call sign was their choice.

As I said above I am trying to catch up with a few 'Views from my office'.

Our last day in Berlin. On the WW2 Flak Tower in Humboldthain Park. I had tried to to visit this place on our last visit in 2013 but entered at the 'wrong end' of the park and found its companion fire control tower with only a few pieces of concrete visible but not the flak one. To be honest there is not a lot to see above ground. My kids had offered to pay for the interior tour as a birthday present but I was worried that my knee would cause problems. This was a good move as my knee wasn't too bad but my back was so sore that I could not possibly have climbed, ducked or scrambled on the tour. I had enough trouble just getting up here.






This view from about 50 metres away explains why we didn't find it last time. The direction signs all seem to be on the 'wrong side' for our last visit and it is pretty much invisible from inside the park. The exposed area faces the railway line.

On the train from Berlin to Prague. This is a Czech one and is not fast by European standards. The maximum speed it touched was 160 km/h and it often tootled along at 90 or even 60 km/h. I found the ride more comfortable than the German ICE train from 8 days previous. I think the Czech one might be more softly sprung as it is not intended to hit really high speeds. The legroom was worse though.



The best part of the trip is the hour or so the train runs alongside the Elbe river. The train windows were incredibly grubby and the internal lights caused problems for the cameras.
