I think that's less than I paid to fly OOL-MEL-OOL-MEL on my status run last year in Y+!

That was with double SCs though.

I paid $1,018 Return MEL - OOL this weekend in J.

I still think it is great value, as I pay that MEL - SYD with QF usually.

IMHO VA J service and certainly food & beverage are not up to QF standards. I do think the staff tend to be more enthusiastic though.

So I need 80 SC for Platinum by mid Sept (thanks to the Etihad earning change :(). Would like to do it in one run if possible and I'm based in NTL but can leave from Syd too.

Anyone any tips on typically cheap sectors? Much appreciated.

Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

I just received my latest Velocity statement and realised that I'm really close to maintaining DJ Plat status after having being comped last year. I need 130 SCs and 4 sectors by Sept 1. Any quick, cheap suggestions ex Sydney? thanks in advance!

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Business class sale on at present SYD-CBR for $299 - 40SCs....
If you had done this during the last period with double SCs would have been even easier.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas for coming up with 150sc by 1 October, flying from either Canberra or Sydney - the cheaper the better!

Not sure what your definitions of cheaply are, but SYD-PER flexi at the moment, $305 for 40SC each way. At ~$7.60 per SC it's not the cheapest ever (certainly not compared to the MEL-OOL Flexi@$109 from a few weeks ago or whatever it cost) but it might get you there... If you had a travel buddy you could pool from, you could have some time in Perth as a getaway too, and not have to do it twice.

If you do that twice, with the half price upgrades (and the bonus double base fare earn), depending on which status tier you're in you might end up points neutral and as a bonus get to fly in the nice J cabin on the 332...

Orrr you could do SYD-MKY in J for $429 each way (60SC@$7.15/SC) as well as something like SYD-OOL flexi return to make up the last 40, overall that'd give you +160SCs for about $1200 (similar to the Perth option, maybe a shade under) and have you see two much warmer parts of the world.

Typing this well into a few beers tonight so take it with a pretty large grain of salt :) I'm by no means the SC run expert, but I do have a (my first ever) SC run booked later this year, SYD-MEL-OOL-SYD (Saver,Flexi,Flexi) which is a 60SC earn for I think $289ish (during the recent sale), which in hindsight I'm proud of!

Wow that was a lot longer than I was expecting it to be...

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

So what is your budget, how many flights do you have in mind, when can you fly and do you have a companion that can do a status run with you and pool yo you? cheapest SC wise at the moment is looking like SYD-OOL flexis at $139

Guys,

I was told today that I'm going to Melbourne - Guangzhou next Friday for a week. The flight was booked on the SQ Website as Flexi which earns full Krisflyer Miles (Not upgradedable though), if I put my velocity number in will this be eligble for Points/SCs?

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Yes, you would earn around 120SC.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Thanks, does it matter that it was not booked on the Virgin site? Both flights appear on the Virgin site but were $300 more than booking through SQ. Useing gcmap.com it is 5382 miles each way. This would put me into Zone 5 thus 80SC's each way, correct?

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

No it doesn't matter, use the SQ calc in the link from my earlier post, it says 4800,4900 or something for the trip. Whatever SQ says the distance is, is what it will be.

Glad it doesn't matter. Looking at my booking overview on the SQ site it shows:

Thus giving a total of 10766 KF Miles. From what I can work out my fare is booked into 'W' Class. Can I rely on this as what I will earn? If so, I will probably direct earn to VA.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Thought I would just pass on this 'Mini status run' which I hope can help out some of the Perth-ites here.

Now that you can earn Status Credits on Skywest, and full Y fares earn under the Business/First column, a round trip PER - BQB in Full Y earns 80SC for $334

This would come out to $4.17/SC.

I spoke to Skywest Reservations today, and they confirmed that a booking into SkyFlex will always book into Y

Gold/Plat also have lounge access in Perth, at least until the Terminal WA opening

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Following on from my earlier post about SQ accrual. i received 200 SC's for MEL-SIN-CAN-SIN-MEL booked on SQ Flexi Saver. Pretty happy with that.

Was SIN-CAN-SIN on Silkair?

I'm looking at flying to KUL via SIN to get some DJ SC's, however not sure if a SQ flexi saver ticket on Silkair metal will earn DJ SC's.

All on SQ. I am also wondering the same thing about SilkAir.
