The WP shadow

But do shadows still exist for us lowly WPs, that's what I'd like to know.

I've tried looking at an upcoming mel-syd flight with my wife's SG number and it would appear I still don't have a WP shadow. It's this because there are two of us on the booking?

I suspect they are just preparing Platinum for the impeding merger with Gold. Meanwhile, my VA flight tonight with J3 YBHK1 and otherwise zeros still has a shadow next to me. But there is still an hour for VA to fix that up.

Edit: and shadow gone as I typed.

Edit: wrong thread. Clearly I need coffee before posting on a Sunday morning ;)

Received a P1 shadow (4E) that actually stuck at take off for the first time in months on Friday. Aircraft was only ~75% full however (which included both 4A and 4B being vacant) so it could have been a one off fluke more than actual customer service. Colin Barnett (and his lackies filling up J) may have been upgraded leaving the empty space....

No shadow for my return flight today unfortunately.

The WP shadow has been 'enhanced' to a simpler and fairer™ WP1 shadow.

The only differentiator between WP and SG now appears to be J/F lounges and a smattering of extra points, as intimated by JohnK above.

Enjoy the journey.

it is not even available for WP1 with out sending an email to request it.

I
have been able to add a courtesy block the seat beside you 4B for both QF671
MELADL November and QF696 ADLMEL November. As with previous flights this
block can not be guaranteed and may be resumed by the airport for operational
reasons.

Shadows now automatically appear for me but have all disappeared / been overridden on my last 5 flights at t-1

23k today on a particularly less than full flight

Was showing blocked up to 30 minutes before departure so wiped out by check in or lounge staff.

I was in 23J on an A332 SIN-SYD the other day with vacant 23K. The guy behind also had vacant seat. But then 24DE we also vacant. Economy cabin wasn't full but was ugly down the back. The shadow is not that important. Qantas charging for bulkhead seats is going to have bigger impact.

For what it's worth I had vacant seat next to me in 38D without any status on TG flight BKK-SIN the other day on what appeared to be full flight.

Was the pax WP1 or CL do you know? if not, that really sux.

Have to admit, I don't feel as bad now, after taking front row bulkhead Y on my SQ flight a few days ago, as a Krisflyer nobody with a redemption booking made just 4 days prior.

Interesting.

QF632 MEL BNE 19 Nov

I'm WP, and this is what I see going to check in...

4DEF Full or Blocked.

EF shows

So 4F is showing as free through EF, but I can't check in to it as WP.

EF with Bronze (I don't have ready access to a Gold FF number) shows this

I wonder what it shows for Gold?

I just checked EF using a Gold FF# and it returns the same map as a Bronze.

By my calculations, there is a WP1 in 4D.

The problem is those seats open up to all and sundry (inc bronze and No status) at T-24 so what's the point?

It's already T-24, and 4F is still blocked for me (WP).

I don't know anyone else on the flight to see what they can see, but EF with a QF WP number (mine) shows it as OPEN, but OLCI shows it as blocked.

More than likely, but why would that block 4F?

Now this is purely observation on my part, but I believe one side is blocked for one half of WPs (perhaps by surname) and the other for the other. Now this might just be in my head but I've seen patterns like this before.

It was open for me too on EF, but the OP's post showed that OLCI had it as blocked/occupied.

Oh right, now I'm with you. Sorry, long day.

That is extremely peculiar, but I wouldn't consider EF to be 100% accurate - although it is mostly correct.

It could be possible that Amadeus hasn't refreshed across to Galileo/Sabre/whatever GDS EF uses (it's not Amadeus).
